Rave 89 defo had potential to be another classic album
I still love the titular track we'd end up getting 10-11 years later.

probably would have ended up way better than graffiti bridge, no hate to that project but I could do without melody cool and whatever that tevin campbell was on a prince project. there was way better music he was working on during that time.

I love Mavis down, but I only ever listen to the Prince-vocal version of "Melody Cool" nowadays, tbh.
The Future, Electric Chair, Partyman, Vicki/Anna Waiting, Trust, Scandalous are great.
And so are I Love U in Me
And Rave un2 the Joy Fantastic.
Hated it on my first listen way back but it’s actually really good. Idk how I hated it. Only skips for me is arms of orion, batdance is a bit of novelty song but the musicianship brings it together.

I can never make my mind up on I love u in me. Some pretty awful lyrics in there with the stripped back production making the worst parts of it stand out. The blunt s***lyrics over the cheesy 80s chord scream lack of self awareness of how unsexy it is at times. It’s cool to hear prince use this tone of voice but it’s not his strongest tone to use either. Song comes off parody-ish to me at times.
But…..sometimes it do just hit for me lol

Chris James did a great job with the digital transfer, it sounds great.
can’t wait to see what else they’ve got in the tank please the 12” version of Pop Life

top 5 track for me right here
Sign o the times concert movie was fire, wish I could see it again more times (arrived at the showing 20 mins late to skip the commercials but it actually started on time smh)
Sheila E and Cat
Always felt it was quite fitting this was the death of "prince" album just for the fact it felt like it was the last of the type of albums he was making in his 80s album run. A short tracklist, variest track lengths, consistent theme throughout the album, some abstract and shocking moments in there. Content wise it really felt like he was killing the character that was "prince".
Probably his last truly great album in my eyes.
canceled Love Symbol SDE tracks got leaked
hearing the og thousand hugs and kisses is insane wow. had no clue its history went this far back.
