All I need is the motherboard. I was looking to buy the asrock z690 extreme with wifi but it's oos. You guys recommend anything else under 200
My budget for a high-end PC was reasonable until I started looking at 4k OLED monitors
Someone stop me before I buy the AW3423DWF or some s***
OLED monitors are such a sick advancement but I'm terrified of burn-in

Really depends on your build and needs. Are you gonna be overclocking? # of NVME SSD's? Etc. Are you buying 13th gen Intel? I'm guessing you're using DDR4 and Wi-Fi.
This will probably be your best bet, but there's no BIOS Flashback.

I5 12400 can't overclock so I'm good. Looks like the z690 would be overkill
I was falling for the ultrawide meme but this is really making me reconsider...

Any issues with burn-in yet
That's my biggest worry with it. Think I should be good on Windows (gaming/media) but I'm a little afraid being productive on it on Linux

I've had it for 3 years and haven't gotten any burn in really, I use it with the brigtness maxed out a lot of times also if you use lower brightness it will last longer & lower the chance of burn-in
I have started to notice slight discoloring on grey screens in recent months towards the center left of the screen where I leave documents open but it's not noticeable with any other colors/scenes
it has 3 features to fight burn in if it sees a static image
1) it shifts the pixels slightly
2) it dims the screen (which can be annoying when using it as a monitor but I don't mind it too much)
3) it does a pixel refresh every couple months to clean up the image
I have the Dock/Menu bar hidden and use a black background
I feel like burn-in is largely overblown these days with all the features to fight it for 99% of use cases

That makes me feel better, and seems pretty in-line with what other people have said.
I think I'm gonna make the jump.
The only thing that f***ing sucks is that TV's still only have HDMI ports for some goddamn reason. AMD GPU's on Linux don't support HDMI2.1 yet because it's closed-spec, so I'll be stuck on 4k60 when I'm booted into Linux but it'll be normal on Windows.

yeah that sucks, not having DP is annoying but worth the cost savings vs a comparable monitor
nice
sure you'll love it OLED TVs are amazing
yeah we will see what next year brings already rumors about a 4070ti & 4080ti bubbling up
I think Nvidia would still make the 5090 if there is less hype they might just charge a more fair price like $1200 and maybe they'll make it a normal size so the cost to produce is way lower
Oh they still haven't made a RTX 4080 Ti? I see... But yeah I do expect them to release a RTX 4070 Ti in 2023 indeed.
Yeah I think the 50 series GPU's might be released earlier than expected but we'll see what happens in 2024 though
Final sanity check on build
Still deciding between the C2 and Ultragear but heavily leaning towards C2. Just that there's a decent price difference between the two rn...
