I bought an old Dell optiplex, stuck a 1030gt in it, 16gb of ram, and with the stock i5 I can run GTA V smoothly.
I’m not a gamer. Really just want it for school work. But it’s cool to see how much life is left in these old hogs 🐖
Looking at my ultrawide build, I'm having a tough choice between picking between the 6950XT and the 3080. The 6950XT is slightly more expensive ($100), but it seems to do a lot better than the 3080 in terms of performance for gaming.
It sucks ass at productivity compared to the 3080, but I don't do much productivity on my home PC. Maybe some enthusiast programming here and there in the future.
I'm not planning on doing the build until later in the year anyway, so hopefully the new AMD 7000-series cards don't eat s*** like the new NVIDIA 4000-series cards, but wondering what you guys think
be careful with that
winter is coming i could use the heat
yeah true i bet last gen CPUs and motherboards will have some crazy good deals
same with monitors
doubt the new stuff is discounted too much but we will see
Word... I think whether someone is looking to upgrade some PC parts or build a new one so will they be eating good during November 2022 - January 2023
Btw... Man that Samsung 990 Pro NVME SSD that's out November 1st 2022 has some nice speeds... Well for the PS5 owners. But I hope they got some stuff for those on the new motherboards as well so not still on the 4th generation stuff but the 5th generation stuff like what the new motherboard and RAM sticks can do at the moment
be careful with that
tomshardware.com/news/nvidia-geforce-rtx-3060-8gb-with-128-bit-memory-bus
new RTX 3060 with 8gb and way less memory bandwidth, will be slower.. wonder how much tho
I bet a decent bit

Yeah I am good lol... I hope the RTX 4060/4060 Ti will not cost too much for those looking to upgrade from a RTX 2060/2060 Ti for example

why didnt they just drop a 3070 ti with 12gb GDDR6X to compete with AMD
why didnt they just drop a 3070 ti with 12gb GDDR6X to compete with AMD
rather confuse people
I don't think Nvidia even tries to compete with AMD in the midrange
the 3060 is probably one of the best selling card, people probably find old reviews and think this new cut down one will be the same speed but see how cheap it is
Nvidia always doing shady stuff
Yeah I am good lol... I hope the RTX 4060/4060 Ti will not cost too much for those looking to upgrade from a RTX 2060/2060 Ti for example
there never was a 2060ti hehe but yeah we will see I bet we are a long ways off from a 4060 though and the 4080 is pretty meh so I'm not getting my hopes up
the 3060 12GB was actually a pretty good deal, almost as fast as a 2080 for way less

No? Welp lol... Well then just the RTX 2060
I hope so... I mean for those looking forward for something not too expensive but good at the same time. Not the kind of GPU I will be getting as for me so will it always be the RTX 4080 Ti/RTX 4090 and the ones coming after it like the RTX 5080 etc. But yeah... I hope Nvidia solves that cable issue for the RTX 4090 as that has made me want to wait before considering getting one

yeah definitely would be nice if there were some good midrange options
we will see Nvidia is still claiming it isn't an issue

True that
Really? Smh... If this issue is still there in 2023 so do I hope that it's fixed by then as I don't want to pay a lot for something that has this issue as it's not cheap buying a RTX 4080, RTX 4080 Ti or RTX 4090 Ti... So if AMD for example has something better so will I maybe consider getting one of their high-end GPU's then

yeah might just be the cable they are shipping it with and not the design but we will see
yeah AMD is still using the old connectors

Might be yes... I think they'll hopefully have that fixed by early-mid 2023. Also I wonder if that RTX 4090 Ti has really been canceled or it's coming in 2023. I guess we'll see
Exactly... Which is the thing to do if what Nvidia is using is the issue. But it seems like the issue is only the connector/cable used with the RTX 4090 and not the other 40 series Nvidia GPU's. This won't make me not get a Nvidia GPU but I hope the issue gets fixed ASAP though.
Okay look at this famo... I found the solution to it thanks to JayzTwoCents

think i’m gonna do this for my desk i thought about just buying a new one but this seems like the best option

my 4090 is so far not an IED
the way it's hooked up in my system right now is shameful though

protip: if there is any military presence where you are, there will probably be a surplus store in town and they tend to have really good and big desks for cheap
i got one a few years back while on a trip and ive been using it since, really thick wood thats somehow lightweight
