Yes that's exactly what I'm saying
Why not make it an option for people who won't ever use the screen or joycons. It's just a waste of resources and could save alot of people a couple hundred bucks.
In terms of hardware Nintendo’s always made their money off handhelds and gimmicks, and the Switch is both of those
I’m sure they’ve done market research about a product like that and decided against it for whatever reason
Have you done the battery calibration thing where you let it drain out then recharge?
nah but i was thinking about doing it next time i use it

They probably could've topped PS2 sales records if they did

Yeah it’s interesting they went Switch Lite route but never went Docked route
Maybe the docked performance isn’t strong enough to warrant a standalone machine?

yea and correct me if i'm wrong, but i thought these companies generally lose money on the console and make their money on the games.
therefore putting out a cheaper console would still be profitable (hence why switch lite exists)

No idea, but it seems like a no-brainer now that I think about it

I guess the existence of Switch Lite but no Switch Dock Only confirms that the Switch is intended to be a mobile-first platform that can sometimes be docked, rather than a docked-first platform that can be taken on the go? Idk. The hybrid nature of the Switch is what makes it dope
I think if you made a Dock Only console it would be expected to have higher performance/fidelity targets that couldn't be met on the mobile system, leading to fragmentation for developers on the platform. You don't have the same problem going the other way. This is actually probably the reason

Eh nobody's expects peak console performance from Nintendo, just those sweet sweet first party games
I don’t think LCD panels are that expensive tbh, especially wholesale
lcd panels are so cheap right now there are chinese companies making entire handheld devices+firmware just to use the cheap screens up
this is why the original miyoo mini had an annoying screen size, the device existed for them to use cheap ass screens that were on sale sitting in some warehouse. then when the device got way more popular than expected they rushed out the slightly larger miyoo mini+ with a screen thats also cheap but still mass produced

I think putting them in standalone spaces means direct competition with ps5 and xbox and that unfortunately just means poor market fit.
I assume most people who want a docked edition are people old enough to be nostalgic for gc and Wii which is fine, but I think it’s important to remember that the switch 1 is almost 8 years old which means Nintendo has had its own niche for multiple generations of kids atp. It’d be a little silly to give that up if they couldn’t deliver something comparatively powerful or unique. Which it doesn’t seem like they’re interested in.

I believe they did. Sony just made sales numbers up imo
Is there anywhere to get Xenoblade X for cheap?
Game voucher is what I’m bout to do for that.
I’m gonna get either brothership or totk as the 2nd game. Leaning brothership tho I feel like I’m much more likely to replay that one

How did you get game vouchers?

Those only work for switch 1 games right?
game vouchers (2 for $100) was so great on switch 1. it made all of the big first party games cost only $50 as long as u knew u would get 2 of them (and u had a full year to use the voucher iirc)
TOTK for $50 as a new game was such a good deal IMO

I just dunno if I’ll play totk again tbh

i got 250 hours out of my first save which i only recently stopped playing
i will do a second save file eventually and get another good chunk of hours with it
for me it's definitely a game that i will re-play periodically going forward (same as BOTW)
