I hope they keep it simple and just call it the Switch 2
I think they will
Just the simple fact the Switch became such a household name and one of the best selling consoles ever, they gotta keep it and let it become like PS - their new console brand, for at least a couple of iterations
Anything else besides that makes absolutely no sense from a sales and marketing viewpoint
im getting my clown costume ready just in case but i want to believeeeeee
Nah theres no need, we're so close now more of these leaks will come out. There's nothing more to doubt imo, as long as you dont expect this thing to be a portable ps5 that is
What would you pick from Nintendo this month if you could only choose one option?
1. Nintendo's next generation console reveal (3 minute trailer like the original Switch reveal) - but no new software announcements until next year (neither for the current Switch or the next Switch)
2. Nintendo Direct with new (current gen Switch) software - but no next generation console reveal until next year.
I'm picking #1

2 tbh, cuz i can atleast know i have games waiting for me when the new gen drops versus having the new gen and waiting
Switch 2 better have priority pre orders for expansion NSO users
no shot

Lmaoooooo not in a million years bucko
To me, the fact that to the devs the performances even looked comparable is enough. We all know it's physically impossible to match ps5/xsx with a 20w handheld, but to get to that level of quality where the average person wont notice the downgrade too much is still impressive, and has me excited for what Zelda team, monolith soft, Mario team and retro among others will offer. The PS4 has games like tlou2 after all, a handheld version with newer, better architecture and components is a dream imo
well in handheld it’ll still be 720p or close to that, so it doesn’t really need to match ps5/xsx
but in docked mode I’m curious how it’ll stack up to those consoles. the current switch gets real hot when running games 1080p while docked so 4k is gonna be insane. Maybe they can add some cooling or fans to the new dock?
Im guessing something like a 4k (with upscaling or DLSS) docked mode wheres it gets too hot to touch and a handheld mode that’s low res like 720p or 900p

I pick number 1 because I've already gotten a great amount of software on the current Switch over the past 6 years, including so many unexpected games and surprises, so there isn't really much more I can ask for from the current generation. I would rather have next generation information at this point to see what to expect next.

I dont think all, or even most games will target 4k resolution. Ps5 has issues with that too, cross-gen games included. I think 1440p will be the main target resolution, and some particularly demanding games will probably run at 1080p realistically (mainly 3rd party titles tho). But 1440p isnt bad at all, and wont look too blurry and washed out on modern 4k tvs at least.

Idk DLSS is pretty advanced and we’re talking about a 2024 console, it obviously won’t be a native 4k but dlss or FSR is good enough that it can output at 1080p and upscale to 4k and look almost as good as the real thing
Thinking about the devs behind ultrahand, ascend, fuse, recall, 3 tiered seamless travel all on the same open world game with hardware at least 4 times more powerful in their hands right now. Aonuma recently said botw and totk acclaim isnt putting any pressure on the team, and if anything he wants us to raise our expectations, so im scared of what they'll achieve

Dlss is great, but its not literal black magic.

These 2 videos i think showcase what we can expect realistically from dlss on switch 2, maybe with some slight improvements since it seems it will feature dlss 3.1

Their Expansion Pack offering is lowkey a scam
How are they so bad at building services lmao

I wanna see more upcoming games for the current hardware. Of course a brand-new console is always exciting, BUT at the expense of new software announcements??? Nah that’s too harsh lol.
Based on the kind of games they put out, I don’t feel like Nintendo is being held back by hardware (with the exception of TOTK; that should’ve been for Switch 2).
Holy shot Smash Ultimate bout to turn 5 years old this year
I wonder what’s their plan for the next one. Honestly I hope they just do a DX version of Ultimate for Switch 2 and let us upgrade for free
