My suggestion is to rent Studio One 5 from Splice. It costs $16.99 per month. I’ve been using it for 3 months now and it wasn’t too difficult to learn coming from Cubase. And remember, once you rent it for 24 months you keep it.
Why Studio One 5? I heard it gets laggy when you stack too much.

like someone else said.
i went sailing for mines.
however at this point in time i see a potential blessing to your craft. Try to f*** with a new daw for free or on a cheaper trial.
i tried to use Studio 5 before as well, right now I'm mainly using Fl Studio and have tried cubase out too.
different Daws come with different tricks and different ways to exploit them tricks.
also try to take different daws built in effects.
like gross beats and transfer them over to a daw of your choice.
however I'm a jail bird when it comes to this music s***

I don't have that issue. what are your PC specs? And what is your buffer size on your audio interface?

You could also use cakewalk and reaper if you dare

This too. Reaper is $60 (with an unlimited trial) and it’s actually a very good DAW, just has a horrendous GUI. Very quick to load and light on CPU.

16gb ram, gpu and cpu are above the minimum needs for ableton. Laptop. I don’t have an interface yet.

If Ableton works well for you then Studio One should be fine. Ableton has higher system requirements.
But I think Reaper might be the way to go if you want to save as much money as you can
Anyone else dislike how Ye plays two 808 notes on top of each other on Come Back Baby?

What’s studio one’s draw? What do you think of Reason 11/Reason+?

There’s a lot of good things I can say about Studio One. It has great stock plugins (some a***og emulations), ARA2 support, chord detection, you can drag and drop effects or virtual instruments right from the side bar into the project (saves clicks and time). Comes with Melodyne Essential too.
I haven’t ever tried Reason so I can’t speak on that.

What’s ARA2 support? Chord detection in what sense? What’s Melodyne Essentials? What pros use this DAW? I’m trying to go pro this is not a hobby. I really want a career.

is there any comparison or equivalent to the piano roll in fl?

Melodyne is like pitch correction software

I actually like it lol and this is my first listen too
The pros in major studios use Pro Tools, not Ableton, not Studio One, not Cubase, nothing else. So try not to worry about that because Pro Tools is $30 per month (there are yearly plans too) and I know you’re trying to save money. Melodyne is pitch and time correction, ARA is kind of irrelevant to you if you don’t use Melodyne or Vocalign. And chord detection is used to identify chord progressions of an audio file or to put chords to an existing melody you created.
@polaroid sorry forgot to quote you

haven’t ever used FL so I’m not sure, but every other DaW I’ve used is basically the same piano roll

Definitely creates a sludgey, distorted, messy bass tone that’s kinda unique

I appreciate the texture but not something I want on every beat unless someone can pull it off as their own style

Thanks so much bro. Right now I’m just focusing on making good beats not recording any vocals. Don’t have an interface. Studio One pros sound great though. Honestly if you were me which would you go with? Yeezy, Neptunes/Pharrell and Timbaland are my favorite producers. I’m really trying to go pro. It’s not about wealth nor fame. Although having the privilege to do this full time as a career would be a dream come true. Really want to make music that reaches an actual large audience and having a purpose in life. I really want to make great music for people to enjoy.

Not a problem at all. I’d go with Studio One. Keep in mind you can make any genre in any DAW. do you have studio monitors?
