Like honestly I'm not convinced woods was referencing Hegel with that one line. He didn't even say "dialectic", just "dialect" which is a completely different thing obvs. I think he really missed the mark with that one, if there wasn't another strong hint in that verse he was talking about Hegel. "The dialect of slaves ever indirect" seems to me more in line with this

So basically I rly like what this dude is trying to do, but I also think you can do a much better job at it, even as a white listener from another country, which inherently removes you from a lot of dialectal (not dialectical) meaning and frame of reference.

I'm doing comparative lit and highkey I'd love to write some papers comparing lit with rap, but rly doing that any justice is a daunting task tbh
