Amazing flip of this track but this song is truly gorgeous that melodic line that immediately follows the sampled bit is heavenly

Hey just went through the discussion and this is what I have to add.

I don't understand how people willing to pay for something is a problem. We live in a capitalist society and rappers are here to play it whatever way they want.
Remember that "the game is to be sold, not told", I fail to see your white boy argument; why does it even matter? The way I got into mach was the cause of the constant praise and cosign from Earl, billy, ka, roc marci, and griselda. Let's say you are the most knowledgeable person on the planet about hip-hop, who the f*** cares?

If you go by the number game drake is the best rapper on earth.

You try to bring up skyzoo as someone better than mach and I fail to see that, maybe I don't have a good taste as you in music. If you fail to see how you are acting like an egoistic child even though you are 35 at the age I don't think you matured in any way. Skyzoo and Mach can be good at the same time, those things aren't mutually exclusive. Just because your fav rapper didn't get commercial success doesn't mean he is not good and vice versa.

You bring up him not having big collabs as a slight, Drake has collaborated with even more legends than skyzoo has. Does that make him better than skyzoo.
Also, let's not fool ourselves into thinking skyzoo is any different than the typical New-York bars rapper, there have been plenty of rappers in that lane that have done it better than him.
He doesn't have any originality and plays very safe, rarely goes out of his comfort zone.

You say Mach is nonsensical, also bring Aesop rock in it to emphasize it. since you are 35 I probably assume Ghostface is in your top 10. What do you think Ghostface is talking about most on supreme clientele? It is common knowledge that it is word vomit. The whole postmodern movement is about stretching what is and isn't art to its limit so I would say mach is doing more to contribute to culture than skyzoo. Do you see here that im not disrespecting skyzoo, mach being good doesn't mean sky is bad. They both have a fan base.

As long as people are willing to pay it is reasonable. Do you complain about Gucci making 1000 dollar t-shirts?

"I don't give a f*** if you don't know what I'm talking about - this is art. When you go see a painting on the wall and it looks bugged out because you don't know what the f*** he thinking because he ain't got no benches, no trees there, it's just a splash. The n*gga that did it know what the f*** it is"- Ghostface Killah

"The music is art, but selling it is capitalism; quality of goods or services and amount of remuneration for said goods and services need not correlate. The likeliest explanation is that I am selling a quality product that appeals to a very small number of people, and thus far, none of them are high-powered booking agents or philanthropically-inclined heiresses." - billy woods

"My mother is an English literature professor. I grew up with Shakespeare, the canon. My mother lives by that s***, but at the same time my mother is not in any way thinking that other societies are lesser than… you know, it’s a very European thing to be like, “Hey, we do this, so who do you have that does this?” or to view art as if there’s the only way it can work."- billy woods

HoF post right here my guy

That guy was being an elitist gatekeeper, the exact type of stuff that makes people who are passionate about things look pretentious. Let people enjoy whatever they like, hiphop is as much about how it is said as much as what is said. I personally wouldn't claim to understand half of hommy but i like his flows, bars and beat selection which tick all the boxes that are important to me. Everyone has different parameters man just grow up and stop s***ting on people for liking something.

How does a person 35 years old not understand this is weird to me. For someone claiming to be from the streets he sure doesnt show the maturity.

Im 22 just in case anyone is wondering

I find the more i relisten to my favorite tracks the more bars i start to understand by stepping back and letting the simplest answer reveal itself haha. He’s a crazy poet and his rhymes often feel much more dense than they are. That’s all relative of course though, he’s about as lyrically dense as a rapper can get

That beat goes soo hard! Might be my favourite track off that album. I really don’t mind Fu on there... but another Mach verse would have been better for sure

Yeah, it’s more about there not being more Mach on it. Fuu’s verse is fine.

Appreciate the response breh but there's a lot of bullshit to dissect in there. That Ghostface quote never says that it doesn't make sense, it's just he saying he don't care if you don't know what he thinking. I seen plenty dudes say they didn't understand Cam'Ron or Ghostface back in the day. Of course they don't, they not around that type of conversation daily. Kind of shows you a pick me up, put me down culture vulture if you saying Ghostface be spitting word vomit. I ain't sayin Mach spits word vomit, I'm sayin I know most of y'all don't understand it and I also know he delivers it in a boring way.

you assume a lot of things and throw insults too quick.

I'm not saying ghostface spits word vomit either, i love ghostface and know his catalogue very well.

Reason i personally like mach is because his rhyme scheme are unpredictable you cant guess what he will rhyme next.

why the f*** do you care if people understand the lyrics? Do you listen to jazz to understand it?

It just sounds good man and people like to listen to it. Not much else to talk about it.

Just because something doesnt have meaning, doesnt mean people cant derive it.

Do you just look at the sky and like what you see, do you try to find meaning in it as well?

A lot of things are just about the aesthetics.

The term subjective exists for a reason.

when watching a david lynch movie do you expect to "understand" it?
People like to consume art for various reasons. Alot of times it is about the experience and escapism. Why does music and in particular rappers need to be held to other standards?

LAMBO! Put the pipe down breh. It ain't that serious, I'm just saying Mach ain't that good and y'all overrate him because most of y'all ain't really heard much hip-hop and catch feelings when I tell you. And the funniest part is Mach finessing all y'all. More power to him though.

i fw the koopstas, doms, ogcs, da storm was my joint! but you made my point here tho... it's all one dimensional marci archetype, them tennis chain rockin, buffs wearin street cats who probly never left their county unless for touring. them "keep it real" heads stuck in their 19yo beliefs. that doesn't mean they can't be educated and good artists, but still it's very narrow minded. i'm not trying to make you like mach, just that you might have been finessed yourself by the street corner mythology. one example for me is when cappadona came up in the wu, all the street dudes was like yeah he dope, me i couldn't cop with his plain joe lyricism.

Breh you can't be sayin Jodeci and Payroll one dimensional marci archetype? You ain't listen to them clearly. I'm down with grimey s*** but I'm down with slick s***, down with soul vibes. Same dudes who be gassing Mach be talking slick about Hit-Boy. Let me guess them dudes want another Illmatic. They ain't understand progression, evolution, the culture. Give me Future and Thugga, not lame ass Mach and Divino.
