As opposed to something like the Griselda that held the impressions of EVERY release tied to that label. I mean that was just the most egregious one but
the Griselda thread bothered me A LOT
they boast about having 1200 pages but like… that’s 1200 pages covering 20 artists (60 pages per artist) who released 12 albums each (5 pages per album) over 7 years (less than a page per year per album)
that is NOT IMPRESSIVE

@proper & @provider beg to differ about small releases not warranting threads, pretty sure each of them has at least 500 threads on releases from small artists that have 3 posts max
think of it this way:
when you filter on an artist in music sxn (which you can currently do, look at the url when you click on the popular artists & just change the name), it’s so much better to see 10 threads over 2 years with 1 reply each than 1 thread with 10 replies total over 2 yearsBro called in backup

pretty sure prosper disagrees with locking artist threads as well, but there’s no way he has an issue with smaller artists getting threads on their releases too

also, the actual goal of all this is for artist sections to take over the role of artist threads
but that’s not fully here yet so i do understand the need for artist threads, as long as they don’t wreck album discussion threads
