to me buying and collecting isn't a hobby because a hobby is kind of a side skill you build and spending money isn't a skill

10 years ago people still collected Pokémon just to get rarer ones or ones they preferred even if today it’s primarily driven by hype and scarcity it doesn’t take that away completely.
