    grandmas are something else man.
when my nan was dying a couple years ago, this woman didnt complain a day in her life and lived a hard ass life.

she was so sick and knew she was going to die and never had a single complaint, negative thing to say, anything. stoic to the end.

older people can be so strong

now my nan thats alive whose 98 ironically is the other way around hahahaha. shes a strong ass person she had 12 kids and all sorts of crazy stuff. but just about like health stuff she gets very anxious and always did before she was older

    They are so good sometimes

Old people are either the best or I can't stand them

    good for her!
did she have one at the time she was involved with this?

to do that to a kid is like insane there would have to be literally no other option.
getting one when youre 75 after living a full life is extremely differnt than getting one as a kid

She did already have one yeah

She was furious the angriest I've ever seen her lol

She got hers as an adult like middle aged

yeah 100% theres no middle ground

something asian cultures get right is the reverence they have for older people. north american culture really do encourage people to dump their parents/grandparents into homes and stuff and not see them. and have a lot less respect for what old people have to say.

obviusly if theyre racist and awful its different. but people who have lived 80 years have extremely valuable perspectives, i love talking to older people

White people are far worse about that type of thing even here

It's odd I don't see it being as much of a thing for other races

My grandma is in a home, but it's literally nextdoor to where my brother lives and he visits her daily

It's only because it became literally unsafe for her to live alone basically and she refused to trouble any of us

But there's a ton of people there she's around everyday so she kinda loves it

    She loves to mingle

    yup for sure

like my 98 year old, still ives in the same house my pop built 80 years ago. she has workers come in to clean and help make supper and stuff becasue she arthritis is bad and stuff., but she’s effectively independant.

and i have a couple aunts who live like 15 minutes away from her (my fam is 6 hours away and Ive been in a different province mostly) and visit her basiclaly as frequently as we do.

AND keep telling her she needs to go into a home and stresses her out. and it so frustrating.

that’s wonderful! and yes see thats different. sometimes you NEED homes and people need some help. thats what theyre for.

but you cant put them there and forget about them is what I meant. theres nothing wrong with going into a nursing home if thats what you gotta do!

and thats great too she gets to spend time with more people.
the highest rate of stds is in nursing homes so theres def loads of mingling going on

but its probably fun if youre old hahaha

i wonder if when youre like 70 or 80 years old you suddenly start finding old wrinkly people attractive

She has this thing with her brain that causes issues with balancing and stuff so she really can't be alone

And she refuses to just sit and relax so it's too dangerous if she's left to just do what she wants on her own lol she admits it she likes being busy too much

yeah see thats exactly what theyre for. those kind of sitatutions.

and good for her for staying busy and not just giving up and lying in bed all day. gotta have a lot of constitution to do that.

also your brother sees her everyday and lives right next to her which im sure she loves.

is she close to you do you see her often? is this the same grandma that saved you from the colonoscopy bag?

If left alone she always thinks up some random project and it's usually way too much for her and requires way too much moving around

She's like 5 ish hours away I don't see her super often just because it's hard to find time with working and stuff

But a couple times a year

I'd love to see her more but it's difficult

    yeah same with my nan.
6 hours makes it a big event to go out there. its expensive too with gas.

thats great you go out a couple times a year though, wonderful. a lot of younger people wouldnt make that effort like you or me!
