I don't get it. How was anyone dying if she was the god of death, the one that caused people to die? If she was already no longer causing death wouldn't there have been no need for someone to create immortality?

she was worried about the guy creating immortality because it would guarantee that her position was unnecessary. She already lost her position and saw decades of things already being normal without her having her position. Did someone else replace her as the god of death during that time and I missed it? What was the point of that?

why did darius haphazardly decide to not even introduce the concept of immortality after struggling so hard to gain that ability? Because he personally had come to the conclusion that death was part of what makes life a miracle? That feels pretty selfish. As a wise old man coming to that conclusion made sense but what made him immediately come to that conclusion when he did?

I loved her as a metaphor for death (well she literally was but ykwim lmfao) like the way she constantly appears in our lives when we least expect it, and eventually it comes for us with nothing to do but accept it, which doesn't have to be a sad thing

The colors were really pretty

And I liked the art style

They had some panel slop but that's ok

The story has issues in my mind that were caused by it being as it is. I feel like I have multiple valid questions that could have been answered if it was a bit longer.

I definitely agree on that last point, I think I really started to feel for the main character, and the position that she was in around chapter two or three, but by that point there only two issues left I think even this being like a seven or eight chapter story could have helped it out

Overall it was fun and very original and pretty to look at

But the issues I have with the story are pretty big and the entire story almost depends on what the answers would be

I needed more of an explanation for him suddenly deciding to not go forward with his immortality invention. As a wise old man his explanation makes sense for him. It does not explain why in the moment after sacrificing everything in his life to achieve this goal he very abruptly gave up on it. He was not the wise old man at that point.

It's like they just needed that to happen for the pretty conclusion they had in mind to work, and then they didn't really give us the pieces necessary to get there

I think she was just the god of death. Kind of like Poseidon is the god of the sea but the sea still exists even if Poseidon wasn’t there. So death still existed but she wasn’t overseeing it anymore. She got fired in advance as soon as Darius was born because they knew he would eventually create immortality and I guess they mention in the book that the higher ups hated her so that’s probably why they got rid of her early
