The way he channeled his struggles into his art was unrivaled imo

In a meeting will peep after when i can lock in
Its like a drawing
Not exactly
Never seen this one, his output was crazy though so I’m not surprised lol
he was unique because where he never sold anything, his brother had his full collection essentially. which is never the case for artists where theyre selling stuff randomly.
he also was obviously very productive as well.
also fun fact about van gogh, its not that he was a hated artist or couldnt sell paintings (although he was certaintly against the grain and im sure many people who saw his paintings did not want them)
but he just chose not and couldnt really sell stuff because he was so mentally ill. and after he died it was his brother that marketed him. his brother also financially supported him his whole life.
in a way, van gogh is was like a team of 2 people
i like the one w the melting clocks
ya dali is great
im assuming youve been to the dali museum in florida
In a meeting will peep after when i can lock in
ok cool its really short youll get a big kick out of it
dont they only fw artists after they die
this happens all the time.
same with musicians and writers too.
I was half kidding mine is probably Starry Night but it feels too basic of a pick
I love how it was his view at the asylum though, crazy that we basically know what window he was looking out of
oh also the reason probably why a lot of the colours in hiss sunflower paintings are so bright and yellow was because the medication the asylums put him on make yellows appear brighter lol.
its funny ppl say like medications ruin creativity when youre mentally ill. which im sure they can. but the like most famous mentally ill artist whose ever lived made a lot of his most prolific work while taking medications

ok fr last one i gotta start my work.
this is jackson pollock, these are worth like 150+ million dollars.
these are huge btw theyre like a wall in size.
it looks like scribbles like a kid could do it.
and it doesnt have most of the other compostion stuff liek the other paintings.
but what makes it special is that he created fractals. and if you use computer a***ysis on fakes, you can often tell theyre fakes becasue theyre not fractals.
also in brain scans when they show people his paintings and then pictures of natural fractals like flowers, the same parts fo the brain light up. unlike in fakes.
he also to my knowledge invented this technique and it was really controversial at the time (40s)
he also is a serious painter, his figure drawings and stuff are spot on.
@ryder
the paragraph abt fakes not having the same neuro response
another painting i feel like needs to be seen in person too
its a techincally difficult painting to invent in the period of time it was made.
nowadays now that how he made it has been well studied and documented, if you practised for a few years you could probably make pretty good chaotic pendulums fractals.
it would be as difficult to copy as learning to copy any painting
but you could say that about a lot of paintings. if you spend a few years studying you could copy da vinci’s sfumato technique and make pretty lifelike paintings. (a technique he invented where you add hundreds of think glaze layers to create lifelike paintings)
but could you have gone back in the 1600s and invented it like he did? ykwim
ok yea yea this makes sense to me now ty
the paragraph abt fakes not having the same neuro response
another painting i feel like needs to be seen in person too
yup its insane lol
yeah seeing in person would be insane. since its a whole wall you could look at it and its all youll see it would be so trippy
ok yea yea this makes sense to me now ty

you’re welcome norty

cat gif btw
cat gif btw

this is my fav landscape of all time
view of toledo by el greco
peep how on the right side the castle is pushing up, the hills are pushing up, and the clouds are even pushing up.
then on the left side everything sinks in, the river makes like a drain where everything is falling inside.
