They grew up listening primarily to black music. John Lennon said when he first heard Little Richard he couldn’t go back to Elvis. Something along the lines of that

yeah u can definitely hear it

rubber soul seems dylan inspired but it’s full of so much soul

their earlier records definitely remind me of elvis, in a good way tho lol

like it’s actually kinda crazy how much better rubber soul is than the rest of the albums b4 it

they seem like a completely different band, like everything started 2 finally click

i’m not really excited about the psychedelic stuff coming up but they’ve gained my trust

Yes, Rubber Soul is dylan-esque and gives me breezy springtime vibes. It was the first album that stood out to me in a significant way. I could tell immediately that this marked the second chapter of their career. It’s only up from here.

I’m not the biggest Beatles fan, but the stuff you’re about to hit after Rubber Soul is some genuinely incredible music.

The Stones would be the best follow up to the Beatles. The Cure is good too but that’s a few decades later. It’s always best to cover groups from the same era directly after each other. If you start with the Stones your entry album should be Aftermath. Prior to Aftermath they were essentially a singles band. Just like The Beach Boys prior to Today. Everything after that is smooth sailing for the Stones.

All groups you mentioned are legendary and household staples. Especially The Doors. Probably one of the only bands my dad and mom agrees on. I’d suggest giving them a listen around the time you do The Beach Boys, that way you can feel the contrast between the sunny side and dark side of LA. The beach and sunflowers and the night life and alleyways
