Like a CamillimaneMeursault didn't enjoy much besides his coffee and cream and some smokes
I liked the writing style and the lack of any kind of emotion (up until after the priest saw him in the jail) that meursault portrayed to the reader. It forces us to lay our own preconceived notions on Meursault while watching the other characters in the book do the same. Meanwhile, we don’t truly know anything about how he feels about anything. Then, right at the end, after the priest visit, he finally becomes an emotional being. I thought it was very cleverly written

yeah a lot of the book as a whole reminded me of this thing Hemingway spoke about where if you make a character completely white and blank the reader can attach any meaning/feeling/motif to the character and come to a logical conclusion, that's a good catch how everyone in the book is equally emotionless as a whole, i didn't catch that tbh

They kept referring to the guy he killed as “the Arab” during the trial or whatever. Just to show how irrelevant they felt that part of it all was.
