As someone in the language learning community that has done what youre doing and studied it a lot more than you are and did that, In my experience it’s true. You cant learn the slang, dialects and just the experience of having to process it 24/7 unless youre immersed in it
That last sentence is ofc true tho it depends on what content you’re consuming also. Learner content isn’t very slang heavy no but I’m in native content now and I’m picking up on this stuff through repeated context.
I wasn’t tryna high horse you, it really is very debated whether “immersion” truly is efficient. Not saying it’s bad but no one really has the be all end all answers do this method of learning yet
