e tAgree with this so much. Older R&B is so f***ing classy for the most part. Even an overtly sexual song like Peaches and Cream is still subtle enough to be timeless.

But it’s like…they’re separate genres for a reason. Getting overtly sexual and vulgar in rap works because they’ve been doing it for YEARS and alot of the time, they actually know how to write those kinds of lyrics.
Pop artists don’t and it comes off not only tryhand, but gross. There’s nothing wrong with being a little more subtle and conservative in the writing.
Hinting at s***or being witty is sooo missed. People just can’t write for s*** anymore or they know their audience is dumb as bricks and needs it laid out for them
