It’ll always be weird that republicans are the super Christian party but have so many values that conflict with what Jesus is all about

ideology shouldn’t be upheld as some sorta gospel but as a guideline and means of building community I think it can be very good, as well as very bad .. depending on the ideology.

jesus was a middleeastern socialist that loved poor people. they would crucify him again if he ever came back.

I feel like you’d have to make the assumption that I just signed up to be an internet socialist and agreed to all the talking points here.

I turned my focus to issues that bothered me, I asked myself how I would do things differently, and found an ideology that actually touches on those solutions in more detail.

socialism is born out of the critiques of capitalism. thats how most of us got here. we found issues that impact us and many others. Thats kinda how an ideology is born and if you’re insinuating that all internet socialists are agreeable to the point of being considered “groupthink”.. oh man

Even within the concept of socialism, there are a million possible variations and possible things to focus on. But it’s very easy to tell when someone learned most of their ideology from internet “discussions” in the most superficial manner possible.

Like if you were to discuss climate change in a socialist framework citing intellectual essays or something, sure. But things like “China’s actually not so bad” are a major red flag.

it is because they don’t care. they don’t care enough to actually read the bible and genuinely take in the psalms and whatnot that they “care” so much about. as someone who grew up in trump loving, deer shootin, corn growing rural illinois, i can say this with confidence.

Aren’t you the one always preaching about the need for “nuance”? Why are you rejecting it now, in this case?

Depends on the people you talk to. I don‘t fw modern China at all for multiple reasons

Just look up China-Israel trade volume for example, they were the top 2 to 3 investors for decades. Even if they said they’re gonna cut ties economically recently, I‘m not the person who belives that you can wash blood from your hands at last second.

These ain’t minimal economic relationships "out of necessity" lol.

China delivered weapons to Israel during the late 1970s through the 1980s. Then after diplomatic normalisation in the 90s Israel sold em defense technologies. Israel also helped China modernise some of it‘s millitary systems. From 2010s and beyond indirect millitary coopartion never stopped.
