Not by politicians and the like, though.

It serves 'humanitary' purposes through coercion; thus, it's immoral.

There are a million things in the universe that you could focus your attention to on the mission of improving society. Ask yourself why your focus is where it is and why it falls directly onto the same pattern of groupthink as every other internet socialist.

Taxation is inherently coercive.
doesnt mean you cant create a model in-which firefighting is funded and in-acted through something more community based but yeah.
Taxation is inherently coercive.
i think having a State (ideally) to protect its citizens is important
i think the point to all of this is to stay hydrated and go to the bathroom when your body tells you!
You can't opt out of it, as if it were some sort of Netflix subscription.
Hence immoral.

I feel like you’d have to make the assumption that I just signed up to be an internet socialist and agreed to all the talking points here.
I turned my focus to issues that bothered me, I asked myself how I would do things differently, and found an ideology that actually touches on those solutions in more detail.
socialism is born out of the critiques of capitalism. thats how most of us got here. we found issues that impact us and many others. Thats kinda how an ideology is born and if you’re insinuating that all internet socialists are agreeable to the point of being considered “groupthink”.. oh man
Taxation is inherently coercive.
but what if it’s for the better of the community
but what if it’s for the better of the community

No, groupthink and ideology are not the same, though they can overlap in some situations.
Groupthink
• Definition: Groupthink is a psychological phenomenon that occurs when a group prioritizes consensus and harmony over critical thinking and diverse opinions. It often leads to poor decision-making because dissenting views are suppressed, ignored, or self-censored.
• Key Characteristics:
• Pressure to conform.
• Suppression of dissent.
• Illusion of unanimity.
• Overconfidence in group decisions.
• Example: A business team agrees on a flawed strategy because no one wants to challenge the leader’s idea.
Ideology
• Definition: Ideology is a set of ideas, beliefs, or values that shapes how individuals or groups view the world, society, and politics. It serves as a framework for interpreting and addressing issues.
• Key Characteristics:
• Can be political (e.g., socialism, conservatism), religious, or cultural.
• Influences how people understand and act in the world.
• Does not inherently involve group dynamics.
• Example: Feminism, libertarianism, or environmentalism are ideologies that guide people’s perspectives and actions.
Overlap
• Connection: Groupthink can occur within groups that share a strong ideology. For example, if an ideological group suppresses dissenting opinions to maintain unity, it can exhibit groupthink behaviors.
• Difference: An ideology is a structured system of beliefs, while groupthink is a behavior or decision-making process influenced by group dynamics. Ideology doesn’t inherently suppress critical thinking, but groupthink actively discourages it.
