rviwouldnt say controversy necessarily. it can help but there are also examples like Celine Dion or Adele. but its worth noting that those ones aren't necessarily aimed just at the younger demographic like your examples (and Dua) are supposed to be

EchiCatNot sure. Maybe if she did add more of her personal experiences outside of her love life it could be more interesting. But Dua is here to deliver surface level fun bops and not something groundbreaking.
I enjoy the album and even if it does flop she can easily bounce back from it.
Fair enough. It’s like 5-6/10 for me off this listen

there might be something interesting to say about how this aspect of Dua also plays into how she is bigger outside of the US. she definitely has a more (continental) European feeling. like i wouldnt be that surprised if this album ended up being a decent success overall just not in the US. album did well first week in UK
but i dont know as much about it to make the point
