Hot Take:Pseudo-Intellectual-ism and shallow depth regarding any topic, has hurt Hip Hop just as much as the turn up/Trap genres has. Not too many young rappers out with nuance/awareness to give you a new perspective on old topics.
Their either too emotional about shallow s***, or not informed/skilled enough to tackle heavier topics, so when they do, its a waste of time to even listen to it
Another thing thats killing Hip Hop imo, is how music videos became way too amateur. How did we go from Spike Jonze/Hype Williams to Lyrical Lemonade being the pinnacle of Hip Hop videos?

u just ain't listening to the right s***, i hate this s*** about what's killing hip hop when people like u ain't even tapped in to all the amazing s*** that's out, that wouldn't even be accessible back in the day.. gatekeeping is a thing of the past and now anyone can make music

hip hop is alive and well and as beautiful as it's ever been

I get you, I don't really feel like arguing but, if everyone can make Hip Hop, what really makes the genre special?

people said the same s*** during the bling era, ringtone era, etc etc
it's special cuz there's so many different styles and takes on hip hop that there's literally something for everyone, that's what makes it special

Damn, you on point with that take lol
i think whats killing hip hop is a general normie shift to country. its swallowing the bandwagoners, the swing state version of music fans. drake towards sports teams. they like whatever is popular and gets played.
now hip hop is about core fanbases and whos got the biggest fanbase to utilize to leverage to gas the numbers. less casual normies that are now country fans like morgan wallen etc

Hip-hop isn’t dying, there’s just been increased attention (unfortunately) towards country. The pendulum for Hip-Hop will swing back around again.
