Man he made some beautiful music to me. One of my favorite vocal ranges as well. Never had to resort to head voice because his chest voice could reach so high.

Y’all hyper focused on the happy part! He has some tracks that sound very very stereotypically dated and that’s my man issue. Like songs so big you’ve heard them used almost as parody in media.

Stevie wrote that song about his wife that he lost and it means a great deal to him. Moreso then just about any song in his catalog, so for him to sing it for Michael was a big deal. And I know MJ passing greatly affected him as well. He knew MJ when he was just a little boy.

studio time was really expensive, could only attempt takes a few times and then had to move on.. factor in recording equipment only allowing certain overdub amounts
needed a lot of technical skill and some imagination
