one of my biggest dreams in life is to make atleast one perfect album by my standards. ive thought about it everyday for the past 15 or so years.
My advice to anyone making music regardless of whatever genre you’re in is to study song structure and have a better understanding of what makes a song go from good to outstanding.
i just wanna make a little music all day and be given money for it that is the dream that is all i could ask for in life
If you want to make money from music, you gotta make music from money.

Build your own fanbase. Don‘t accept bs contracts from small labels early on in your career. If you manage to get big/clout on your own major labels will knock on your door and maybe try to give you a more benificial deal, offering you to own your masters I‘d still not accept it and rather find an amazing manager like Brent but 21 Savage seems to do aight to with his masters. Most of the time you become a slave for the big 3 anyways tho
this is an ignorant question but i want to learn the answer.
what is the point of record labels in 2023? why does one need to sign with them?
it used to be you would sign with them for studio time and to get your album printed and sent all over the country/world to record stores. and probably get your s*** played on the radio too.
now with streaming and youtube..... i mean whats the reason to sign? rent your own studio space (yes this takes money but i think technology makes the recording process less dependent on big fancy studios) and put your s*** out.
i think it makes sense to sign with a touring company because organizing a tour would be hard (booking venues, liability etc) but the music part seems like indy is the way to go now
