Nortive always wondered why at certain points in his career he had more pull in europe
feel like there was some quality to his experimentations that European audiences were more open to for some reason. like Around the World in a Day onwards has kind of a european type of flair at times tbh. Maybe less controversy over things like Lovesexy cover due to less of the puritan conservative establishment attitudes that USA had at the time. Because he declined commercially in US after purple rain maybe him (and his team) leaned into Europe more because he thought they understood him more. Like his best received tour ever, SOTT europe tour, didnt get a US equivalent even though Prince wanted it to iirc
this part is kind of a guess but I feel like Prince's blending of influence and styles gives him a type of universal boundary-crossing feel. like he gave a different vibe to those artists that just totally feel all-American
