(This is me playing devils advocate and I am in no way shape or form saying that this made it a cool thing for him to say)

1. Kanye clearly has an obsession with religion and has made it clear that he has a god complex in the past (sees Jesus as a goal, something to shoot for)

2. Kanye is very easily influenced by controversial figures and is very willing to explore controversial ideas (to the point of it becoming a flaw and being overly accepting of these ideas)

3. Rebels against and hates "cancel culture" and will purposely make statements to upset people and to fuel discussion due to his past

When you mix all of those things together thats how you get some of these absolutely insane sounding statements

I think when Kanye said he loved Hitler he was trying to speak in a way that he imagined Jesus would. That mixed with the controversial statements about Jewish people made it look as though Kanye was coming out as a complete nazi, but I think in his mind that wasn't the case.
