Who knew goth boy could be so articulate

I’m on IG looking at reels everyday and haven’t spent a single dollar on anything I’ve seen on instagram
I find this unlikely but again you wouldn’t really realize it. Like if you see videos of people drink a Starbucks iced latte, you might be more likely to walk in and get one the next time you pass by a Starbucks
It’s kind of another chicken or egg thing cause you won’t ever end up just liking videos of Shibas. They will build a profile around you just liking videos of Shibas and throw in videos that other people who like videos of Shibas also like and eventually everything you like is almost completely curated by them. And you won’t be able to tell if you would have organically ever liked these things if they weren’t subconsciously and systemically fed to you.
That’s definitely true, at that point you just gotta know what you’re actually into and go on a 3 week hiatus from instagram, restart your feed, then go back to liking videos of just shibas
If that fails, traverse to the woods, no phone, and become a monk

Hey man I’ll never deny the factors that subliminal messaging play in marketing, its just fed to us in a much different way now
Which is again, in a significantly less monolithic way

In the worst way ever tbh. Everyone is addicted to their phones and basically at the mercy of this s*** 24/7
Ok but who’s the Radiohead of today?
Playboi Carti tbh
That’s why I enjoy forums like this the most cause at least I know the majority of these threads aren’t being curated for me. I have freedom of choice of what I want to see here.

This is why Bruises is richer than all of us, no social media
Labels have always been about money first, it’s the music business after all
It’s just now they don’t have to worry about developing any artists, and have essentially skipped the middleman
Trust me the only reason UMG are mad at AI is because they didn’t get their hands on it first
Of course, money is always first, you can't run a business without money. All im saying is that, there was an idea of what good was at some point within these labels and they were able to quality control and pick out who they'd like to make a star/or an act they want to use to reach a certain base by using their label. Now,no one cares to quality control cause its really not up to the label anymore.
If a song goes viral,it was chosen by the people, and labels are genuinely signing acts and are telling them "keep doing what your doing" with no real intentions of really growing them as artist.
I gotta let you know something sir..you are Himothy fr

That’s definitely true
Tbh I think the taste of what’s good not being within the hands of labels is sort’ve a double edged sword.
Like on one hand, I think it’s good that it’s decided by the people. I think it’s good that rappers are just able to pop off nowadays without a s***ty pop single that they’re so obviously not putting their heart into
But on the other hand, the publics attention span has never been shorter, and if you’re not constantly reinventing yourself like an Uzi or a Carti, the public won’t give you that chance to evolve. They can just find a new up and coming artist that fits into whatever preconceived image they had of your artistic trajectory/potential
Back in my day, artists would get famous by visiting the crossroads in the middle of the night to sell their mortal souls to Satan.
Like, what Coi Leray did to market her new s*** dropping this week is kinda sad/telling but I think it best explains how labels/artist are moving now. She had to draw attention to the music somehow cause her label wasn't promoting s***.

I think the biggest problem with labels not being involved anymore is the fact that artist nor their albums aren't really productions as a whole anymore. Thats why no one feels like a superstar really, cause cause social media made every artist attention seekers and thats what labels go after now, attention seekers/anyone doing numbers on social media.
And people (especially nowadays) aren't a good judge of anything, thats why artist are artist, they make what we want to hear and come up with things we didn't know we wanted. Now everything is chosen by the people andmusic and art is watered down because of it,no one in music right now has realized a vision as an artist since Kendrick imo.
