Too bad he’s canned because of Ledger fanboys. That’s what happens when you do a good job I suppose
Yeah that's why Leto's Joker was canned lmao
most relatable movie ive ever seen
On the lowest of keys but yeah... I definitely felt for Arthur and understood where he was coming from, despite his actions
When I was watching it was constant tension the whole way through... I'm not a film buff or anything like that so comparisons to movies like Taxi Driver didn't phase me cause I never seen it.
Yea idc what anyone says, this is a masterpiece imo. I loved everything about it, went to the movies twice to see it
Just rewatched. Still very good, and I feel more strongly now that the whole story is a delusion. It’s hinted at waaaaay too much. Like constantly. The whole thing is his fantasy. Now obviously it’s intentionally left ambiguous and Todd might unfortunately undo this if he makes a sequel but yea this whole movie was in his mind, only loosely rooted in his real past. Both he and his mother are delusional.
Just watched for the first time. movie was mid I did thoroughly enjoy the ending though
I’m sure someone’s said it before, but I’ll take King of Comedy and Tax Driver over this all day
The dialogue is so unintentionally cringe it hurts. The movie is so by the numbers and generic, but it's got a lot of flashy cinematography, a great main actor, a great score, and a connection to the best superhero/supervillain of all time.
It constantly tells the audience how they should be feeling without naturally progressing you there. It's acting smart while dumbing down every idea/theme it has to its simplest and most obvious form. It's not a bad film, it's just definitely not as great as everyone is saying. The hostility the fans of this film shows to people that disagree with them only emphasizes this.

aren’t all of our perspectives our single and biased interpretation to the situation to some extent?
But yeah I definitely agree, esp with him having delusions about his neighbor being a significant part of the movie he was more likely to go off the deep end with potentially hereditary mental issues
As far as the dialogue goes, I think it was important that they made him uncool.
IMO they made him uncomfortably weird and awkward to where he doesn’t represent some badass but rather a mentally ill person who kills his own mother and is out of touch with reality, like when he’s laughing in the comedy club, the fact he’s telling unfunny jokes is true to the character...
I think they made it a potentially more realistic incarnation of someone who would become this character... I get some of it being “we live in a society” tier writing but I think it adds to the fact that he isn’t cool. And I’d rather that, than glorify some of his actions.
Also I didn’t like the predictability
predictability? Its a movie about how a guy became the joker. You knew what was going to happen before you even thought of watching it.... If you were expecting some mind bending mystery with twists and shockers thats on you
I liked it on first watch, but ive had no desire to ever watch it again
It'll be weird to just casually watch this again
