I prefered Madrid ngl…. even if I try my best to put the club preference bias aside I still think I would say Madrid
Barcelona really does feel kinda overhyped ngl, but also I stayed in Madrid for much longer than in Barcelona, think I needed maybe a two more days there, gotta go again…. nothing striked me as much as walking around Salamanca or Chueca though, even Lavapiés was so nice
Barcelona didn’t feel like it had really any cool neighborhoods or unique atmosphere like that idk

Madrid feels more Spanish but if you want real Spanish you should go to Andalucía anyways and hit up Cadiz/sevilla/jerez, Barcelona I enjoyed living in. Beach access, cool architecture, sensible and unique city layout. Madrid has better museums
Madrid is nice too though tbh you can’t go wrong visiting Spain
