what apps do u use to track and build workouts? i actually had rp app for a year and theyll charge me tomorrow for another year but the fact that its another 250 makes me reconsider. i overall really like it, but is there something similar in how minimal and easy to use it is? except excel spreadsheets

i've been using hevy for about a year since someone itt recommended it. idk what all the rp app does but if you just want something that you can use to track reps, weight, etc then i think it's great for that. it's free with no ads but you can do a monthly sub or pay like $75 once for lifetime premium and either gives you unlimited routines, unlimited custom exercises and some other features. as a free user you only get 4 routines and 7 custom exercises but i've been doing fine with that. they do have some social features (like an insta feed but for other people's workouts) but they're super easy to ignore and not interact with, i've never once used it and they don't shove it in your face either

i like that rp adapts to your training based on feedback that you provide (pain, soreness, overall load) and adds or removes sets and reps based on that. part of it is intuitive (add reps for less weight and over time) but i like that i dont have to think about that at all

ah yeah, hevy doesn't have anything like that. i'd imagine rp is pretty unique in that aspect and that's why they charge that much

Something like that’ll make you pay but a rough rule of thumb is to deload (cut volume or intensity)every 4 weeks

yeah each workout with the app is a mesocycle up to 8 weeks incl. a deload week. interesting that no other apps in the field can do that

so your saying this app tells you when to go heavier by upping the weights and reps and it tells you when to d load?

it has a built-in progressive overload algorithm and it plans your entire meso on reps-in-reverse ie during deload you do 8 RIR or totally lightweight stuff and during the hardest weeks before that you train 0 RIR. i genuinely thought all gym apps are built around this but if not i might drop 250 on rp

    That blows

It’s rare to get that pendulum squat at a lot of gym so it’s real nice having that

Removing the back extension is crazy tho

Yeah I’m super sick at the loss of the pendulum squat they’re so hard to find now I gotta do some new accessory lifts they replaced the back extension with reverse hypers I think but they added like 8 glute bridge/hip thrust machines for no reason
