holy s***. they think we’re stupid
they don't just think the public stupid, they're right. the vast majority of americans will eat this up. you think the average voter knows the sectarian and regionalist differences between ISIS & Taliban beyond thinking "well they're both muslim right"? Look at any media outlet and the unified partisan bullshitting. While it's true that a majority still supported the evacuation as of yesterday (45%), that's still a 40% who disprove, and a 15% no opinion. That's still an incredibly large and influential number of people
so whats the motivation behind these bombings
ISIS and the Taliban are enemies, they also probably wanted to cause chaos for the troop presence
so whats the motivation behind these bombings
not 100% confirmed but likely ISIS attacks given that they're now in a position to continue battling the Taliban as a state entity. Also disruption of US/Taliban relations right now by causing more chaos. however US intelligence supposedly knew about this days in advance and did nothing so draw your own conclusions

source they knew about this days in advance?
does isis control any parts of afghanistan? no, right?
curious on why they are "now in a position to cotinue battling the taliban as a state entity.." -- is it because the US left and they were unable to do so when the US was there?

Overnight, warnings emerged from Western capitals about a threat from IS, which has seen its ranks boosted by the Taliban’s freeing of prisoners during its advance through Afghanistan.
Shortly before the attack, the acting U.S. ambassador to Kabul, Ross Wilson, said the security threat at the Kabul airport overnight was “clearly regarded as credible, as imminent, as compelling.” But in an interview with ABC News, he would not give details.

But the night before, a senior U.S. official warned of a “specific” and “credible” threat at the airport by an affiliate of the Islamic State, the Islamic State Khorasan, or ISIS-K, and Western governments began urging people to leave the area.
Even with such a specific warning, military officials said, it would be very difficult to pick out a suicide bomber with a concealed explosive vest in a huge throng of people, like that at the airport.

There were ISIS prisoners held in Afghanistan which were liberated once the Taliban took power, not because they're allies, but because the Taliban doesn't believe in western judicial processes, so anyone within said prisoners were freed with the expectation of either being re-tried or innocent as a token of islamic brotherhood, but obviously ISIS members who are like mortal enemies with the Taliban just took it as a means of immediatedly regrouping and gathering more resources, likely over pakistani borders given they have a presence in Balochistan (Pakistan) and Kashmir (India/Pakistan)
also said they prepare to retaliate.

yeah just saw that, to be fair though they did say "against those responsible", seems strategic they specifically didn't name Taliban. Honestly if anyone in the pentagon had half a brain (big theoretical, i know), would be a good springboard to launch diplomatic talks with the Taliban, would be mutually beneficial since Taliban benefits from fending off ISIS
Uh oh
This is about to be a s***show

they also said it was ISIS
Were working with the taliban wow
This is a disaster. Very sad day. RIP to the victims
I mean it was surely ISIS. but it’s funny to imagine them “assessing” the body (or what’s left of it) of a suicide bomber
