This is for evacuation purposes to guard the airport and getting people out of the country.

It's probably a combination of both but in reality, it's just to save face. Biden can't appear to look weak after his stupidity. He's really doing this to make it seem like he knows what hes doing rather than any real strategy. Honestly, the white house is seriously f***ed right now

The issue at this point isn’t the Taliban, it’s civilians trying themselves to mess around on the airfield (whether trying to escape or otherwise). This entire thing is an all around disaster and it’s entirely self caused, and the horrendous state of our media and pundit class at the moment has made this exponentially worse.
