too many damn albums to listen to
Was just talking to my friend about this. This year especially it’s just stimuli overload with all these albums

might force myself to not listen to each new release for a week. the amount of good music is just way too much. I can't let any of these songs marinate in my mind
yeah I’m firmly with the Brass >>> Shrines opinion, both are f***ing great tho
I feel like I can't compare or quantify them like that. Both are brilliant in their own right for sure, but I feel you
How’s the small bills and elucid album?
Fantastic. Really showcases Elucid's range. Production and features are on point too. You should definitely check that.

Probably going to check it out tomorrow. In two minds whether to bother checking the carti album too, can’t see me liking that though

I've been on a rite-of-passage journey out of the dust and into more zoomer type s***, and I listened to a few tracks and was really indifferent. Though it seems like people are disappointed lol

How do you guys even keep in the know? This thread keeps blindsiding me with projects.

The small group of pro-dusters on here are always tuned in, but I agree—like I was telling dude a few posts back—it’s so overwhelming having all this (great) music to listen to
Both JPEG and Brockhampton fuse pop with experimental leanings which is why they were able to "cross over", I mean Brock called themselves a boy band and JPEG has covered "Call Me Maybe". There is next to no pop leanings to be found in Billy Woods projects, Brass might be his most uncompromising yet even... (and even up there among the more uncompromising Moor Mother projects I've heard)
Music heads who appreciate avant-garde will love it but this will never be a crowdpleaser
I get it, I'm just saying atleast it will get a wider reach in the niche that it exists

I’m just trying to catch up on a few tbh bro, I have listened to more this year than usual though due to lack of work with this covid s***, so I’ve had plenty of spare time. The underground thread is really good for putting you into new s*** though tbf

Huh how do you mean
and if you dig moor mother make sure to check her side project irreversible entanglements if you haven't yet... it's dense
Huh how do you mean
i'm not sure how to define it, but besides the darker ones many beats feel like "happy experimental pop" which is not really working for me

Some tracks do feel like they’re going for that industrial rap type sound like death grips, like here be dragons, masters of clock x etc. But most of the album is pretty nice. Like you say the darker tracks are defiantly the better sounding ones

I def don’t share this criticism

I think I know what he means although I’d describe it as more of an industrial rap sound, it’s on a few of the tracks

haha iss all good... to make it simple i find some beats kinda goofy, but people having it another way is what makes music our great refuge
