Cause Eggers is American. Hiring a ton of actors with accents from said country has never been the way in Hollywood

Made Orlok's accent a little jokey to me tbh. I liked the voice overall but I had "I vant to suck your blood" in my head the whole time. I know he's transylvanian but it didn't matter that everyone else was German

Some people probably need to see this twice to pick up on the dialogue better and be sure to do it at the first cock crow

Always the way with eggers and his extremely period dialog

cause as soon as you assign numbes or stars its "well you gavethis a 4 star too so you are saying they are equal?"

I wish you could do custom ratings. Some movies be 3.75 to me, not a 3.5 and not a solid 4. But you can only pick between the two

oh I mean relate to abstract things or concepts. Even it was a 50 or 100 point scale people like rotten tomatoes do not read then suddenly they are complaining about you rated something when review embargo was up. Then over time, multiple watches, not being a rush or the mood you went to the movie in can all change score to some degree

some of the originals themes of Dracula are "superstitious, uncivilized east contrasting with scientific, modern west" but they kind of lost a bit of that when Murnau rewrote the book for his movie to take place in Germany instead of London. so Eggers kind of found a middle ground.

Skarsgard delivery was a little goofy to me at first too but it sunk in a s pretty deeply unsettling eventually.

This was dramatically better than Northman thankfully

a seriously opulent, but ominous film. yet to glorious amount of attention to detail for the period which it's set in while the cinematography is immaculate. solid acting even lily rose-depp invokes isabelle adjani..

It's not that the dialogue is that inaccessible, but if you're not sure what to expect, then it will for sure throw you off

Actually on second thought I think you can put a review without a rating cus of embargo

I remember boy said he did extensive research for Lighthouse listening to mad interviews and audios from that time frame just so he could perfect the dialogue.
