why would anyone want the exact same type of progression that was in the first series? they obviously went that route to keep Korra from being a glorified remake. don’t be dense.
going a different route that just so happens to destroy what was already established in the series. Learning the elements can still stand out while staying in the same framework that was decided on in the Last Airbender.
They placed her in an entirely new setting, a more mature supporting cast, and a new conflict. You can’t tell me they couldn’t have kept her learning the elements while also being unique in its own way.
also Goku sucks and the concept of power levels and training is f***ing dumb
Goku been a trash character but nobody ready to have that conversation

Dude that sounds like the same thing with just a new cast of characters and environment
Booo! Get off the stage

It exists in the same framwork, sure. That doesn’t mean it’s the same thing. The original didn’t have the majority of the show dedicated to the actual training aspect of mastering the elements but the situations that came out of trying to learn. When you have new motives, characters, and settings, you have a new show that doesn’t invalidate what we already know
Nah thats just a physical growth. It's like goku "training" the powers are arbitrary. The choices people have to make and what those choices mean are the interesting point. I guess that goes for any characters with powers.
Aang couldve already knew firebending for the most part and still chose not to use it because his negative connection to it and the growth would still be there.
You can say there are multiple reasons why Korra sucks but her knowing all the elements aint one of em.
It doesn’t just come down to that, though. She is presented as someone who has and wants everything handed to her and already having mastered the majority of the elements is an extension of that. Even when it seems like she is finally growing, it is thrown out.

Lol no it doesn't. Shes impatient as f*** and overly sure of herself in the beginning despite having most of the bending down. Characters getting stronger doesn't equate to better development

im not being dense lol im just pointing out a fact
She didn't have any call to action to be the Avatar out of any desperation, her development really could've been fleshed out by learning the elements. If they wanted to go the same direction they did they could've changed it by at least making her likable from the start
Also I got confused why she couldn't learn airbending. If any thing she shouldn't be able to learn water bending

bruh she didn’t know her air bending because she wasn’t connected spiritually. Tapping into the spiritual part of herself was her biggest obstacle in SZN 1

Air isn't the only spiritual element
This is where the writers f***ed up. Water is the element of change, and Air is the element of freedom. Korra was very freewhelming, but I never noticed her character change to much.
Although going from pompously challenging to fight Amon, then crying after is some pretty radical change, albeit stupid
Never seen Korra tbh
Same, I love avatar so much that I’m worried Korra gon disappoint me

Same, I might watch it after I finish this rewatch of avatar tho
They also combined the episodes that were divided into parts. The 4-part Sozins comet episodes are one now. It’s basically a movie lol
