So I was watching a video of Super Mario 64 in 4K-60FPS
And while it does look nice, it lost its charm compared to the original.
A lot of people hated that Nintendo didn’t update the graphics and just did some light touch ups but otherwise, left it alone
I think it was the smart thing to do
This 4K video just looked wrong lol
We might not need 4k but a remake in mario odyssey engine would make it look amazing imo, if just for improving camera and movement since mario 64 hasnt aged that well in that departement
Nice to see that my estimation of Switch hardware sales was spot on! My prediction was that it'd be at 84 million, and they reported 84.59. The numbers are as of March 31, 2021, so I would think it's at 85 today, and their official forecast for this fiscal year (which lasts until March 31, 2022) is currently to sell 25 million units. Nikkei said 30 mill, but that's not official, at least not at this moment. Perhaps after they announce the Switch revision they'll up the forecasts by a few milli.
Nintendo forecasted 25 million not based on demand but based on how much they can produce, so number could and will probably go up to 30 million like nikkei predicted. By this time next year we're looking at switch surpassing ps4 in only 5 years, and with everything coming out next year (splatoon 3, new mario probably, pokemon legends, etc) this year might not even be the peak
The software sales numbers are just f***ing nuts, especially Animal Crossing, it must be the 2nd fastest selling game ever behind GTA2, with half the install base. Mario Kart is insanely as always, might become the biggest non bundled exclusive game oat. Mario Party performance is still mindblowing, it’s not stalling at all.
The Switch is already the gaming platform with the most 10M+ games on it with 11, surpassing both DS and Wii. And this year might be the peak
which is a feature so much worse than figuring out how to evolve or finding hidden paths that arent made obvious by a "scanner" or cleverly hidden Pokemon, which are currently widely discussed as prominent missing features
if i knew the main point was taking 4 different photos of the same Pokemon i probably wouldve skipped this one
the main goal in the original was finding all Pokemon, finding all the signs, and capturing a photo of Mew
all they had to do was keep that going with the game they have now (besides the Mew part) and nobody wouldbe complained at all
dam magic talking real s***
for me a huge part of the appeal of pokemon is the sense of adventure i get (which is a big part of why i dont like the newer ones where its more railroaded)
removing these things are a small change but it takes away a lot replacing it with a more structured activity
is Sword and Shield worth a purchase? I've seen a lot of mixed reactions to it
I would like to know this too
I would like to know this too
Honestly if you’re into Pokémon then just buy it, of course there are a lot of ppl that didn’t f*** with it but I thought it was decent, especially with the DLC

All those IPs you mentioned are already on the Switch, so their sequels won’t expand the audience enough. Also the 6th year on the market being the peak with record breaking sales right now is pushing it.
got to Kakariko Village. i'm having such a blast man
almost s*** my pants when I saw that stone talus dude
but the theme was so catchy, it's still stuck in my head

You better off just throwing $60 in the trash tbh

I fully agree
A lot of people say the best years are behind Nintendo for current gen
But lowkey Nintendo still has A LOT of heavy hitters that haven’t even came out yet
Games wise, Nintendo has not hit their peak. But like you said, it’s coming up in a couple years...

Thanks I'll probably cop it.

Absolutely do not listen to this advice Pokemon sword and shield is unplayable drivel and the only reason I don't trash it daily is because I appreciate that it is a children's game and it's unplayability for adults is nearly by design

I wish I was you right now
First BotW playthrough was amazing. I've replayed it several times, all in different ways, taking different routes and tackling challenges in different orders.
