Tbh, there's already people switching up on Kendrick online.

I've been seeing a lot of posts on social media calling him a hypocrite, a clout chaser, overrated, and declaring that "Drake won the war."

Right now, Kendrick is still in his imperial phase cause of the tour but, once the tour dies down, I think you're going to see more vocal Drake fans and Kendrick haters talk their s*** and try to revise history.

That said, Kendrick is praised partly because the mainstream rap scene in general is weak af and has been for some time now.

And Kendrick's the main non-Indie/underground rapper who makes good music and has bars.

I like Kendrick but man, it's just so many factors that go into being the "King Of Rap" and I think some people just don't like how he just took that title and ran with it. It's like Kendrick won the beef and wants the crown, but he lets his PR team handle the politics that come with it(or just ignore them completely).

That's why some people don't f*** with him being on top, and probably why he won't hold the crown for long. He won the beef but he's too commercial and protected, I need to hear that Whips & Chains verse though lol.

Truly will never understand how it doesn’t get tired after some point

Drake not having the it factor was exactly why he found success in the first place. Bruh was a relatable cornball and turned that into an empire. His successful 2015 rebrand made people forget that.

lol tell niggas to drop something good then? He hasn’t dropped anything since November lol. Besides the tour what is making you hate a 7 month old album

He didn’t strictly “take the crown” per say, he called out to Drake and Cole to challenge them on wax. Cole dropped a weak diss and forfeited, and Drake put up a good fight up until The Heart Part 6, but he ultimately was outwitted.

Kendrick can’t win in the eyes of those who hate that he won to begin with. If he “defends” the title and goes Kamikaze on everyone, people will say he’s dragging it out and doing too much and that it’s corny. And if he doesn’t do anything, people will say he’s scared and doesn’t actually have the skills to go up against another formidable rapper. It’s a lose lose if he listens to those people.

He’s incredibly boring, Ye, Drake, Wayne, Em, etc all have that “it” factor a superstar/superhero of hiphop needs

The self righteousness on top of all of it is putrid to witness 💔💔we’re in for hell

“He’s incredibly boring, Ye, Drake, Wayne, Em, etc all have that “it” factor a superstar/superhero of hiphop needs”

While I personally disagree with this dootmans, I see it so much I can’t discount it being a common sentiment. But I’m genuinely curious as to why it is - is it the way he dresses? His face? What is it tbh why do so many people feel like this about Kendrick, I’ve been trying to crack this it factor thing with rap heroes for a while anyway

I’ll always respect him as an artist even if I don’t enjoy all of his music.

Him as a person though? He slimey.

well he was still droppin platinum albums but i'm saying as the "guy"
he was the favorite and he raps better but if you were around you remember 50 taking his wave from him

He wasnt a gangster rapper but he depended on that image JUST enough to where we could believe 50 cent's more

for example Rollout "I got my twin glock 40's" in the hook

we wanted to hear that but from 50, who had a realer ganger persona

Oh I get what you saying, and yeah, 50 basically became a blueprint for gangsta rap and even to this day you can see traces of his influence. Plus the whole Supreme/Irv Gotti situation that led to 50 getting shot was super effective in building up his mainstream persona

I feel the same. The game was much better when Drake was using payola to make Slime You Out go #1 for one week. Miss those days.
