Firstly the assumptions about being "mentally ill" and what it means for someone, I know people who have the same detached from reality beliefs about life and how everything is a conspiracy, these same people manifest it into harmful personality traits (functional addictions, not taking care of their hygiene, hoarding) but I would not suggest they be put in a mental hospital/clinic for it

I think I misrepresented myself, I might've gotten into side debates but my point is that Ye has been bigoted longer than the past 3 years, I'm not a psychiatrist and you're totally right that I'm not in a position to say whether or not his bigoted beliefs are from bipolar delusions or from "neurotypical" delusions, I just dislike when people act like he started being bigoted a few years ago (which is not at all a defence it's a criticism of stan culture)

My family's from ex-Yugoslavia, Sarajevo specifically, and moved in the 90s (I think you know what that means) and I have first hand experience with bigoted people that have trauma, I might be slightly jaded on them because hearing homophobia (for obviously personal reasons) is exhausting and I lose patience with them, I think we'd all do better to be more forgiving and focus on education instead of punishment but figuring out what point to start excusing bigots because they're mentally ill is tough and you acting like it's so easy is simplistic, I don't think you'd grant the same compassion to obviously mentally ill loser cacs and I wouldn't blame you

Your previous posts about Ye and his mental illness to me reads as a type of compassion for him which I am lacking but I understand, I think you have a unique perspective to everyone else on this site about Ye which I respect (maybe not so much going as far as beating him up but alas...), if I mention a pejorative "people" in the future don't think I'm referring to you

Ultimately my big problem is stan culture (of people that are big fans of Ye) and how people pick and choose to care about Ye's bigotry when it's convenient, but I think I've changed my mind a bit because his pre late 2010s bigotry wasn't as widely publicised so it's unfair of me to expect people to know he's been like this

I view the issue of Ye in the sphere of the specifically 2020s type of defeatist, ahistorical, anti-intellectual attitude towards art, where people discount and forget the past and today's emerging problems are worse than any other problems, I would have to write a whole essay to properly explain it so I won't
