Can name multiple songs on mr morale that could go on DAMN.

You talk about diversity in sound but in terms of content (which you used initially) and Kendrick only has 4-5 topics / ways of delivering a song lol

    Goof

I disagree. You can’t compare two albums like Mr. Morale & GNX and have all of the songs fit into five neat boxes like you can do with albums like Certified Lover Boy & For All The Dogs

A song like squabble up would sound completely out of place on Mr. Morale the same way We Cry Together would make no sense being on GNX

There not really a single song on neither CLB or FATD that would sound out of place if it was on the opposite album

I’m not saying Drake is the only artist that falls victim to this, he’s not, but Drake is closer to Future in this regard than he is to someone like Kendrick. Kendrick switches up the playbook on every single project of his

He’s a Drake stan. This level of a***ysis is hard for them to understand. They’re used to bloated playlist style albums, not actual bodies of work

    Unforgivable

"Can name multiple songs on mr morale that could go on DAMN."

    Name them

    Die Hard
    N95
    Purple Hearts
Mirror - could easily be on the Black Panther soundtrack too.

None of them would be sonically different to anything that's on Damn.

    Go to GNX

    Luther
    Gloria
    HP6

All wouldn't be off that either.

Every artist has multiple lanes and sounds they go to when developing music.

Kendrick's sonically different album is TPAB.

Even when he makes stuff like GKMC & GNX, that sound is prevalent throughout most of them albums, how is that diverse if a 14 track album has 13 songs that all sound similar?

    lol

  • Oct 17, 2025

    United in Grief
    N95
    Worldwide Steppers
    Father Time
    Rich Interlude
    Rich Spirit
    We Cry Together
    Purple Hearts
    Count Me Out
    Crown
    Savior Interlude
    Savior
    Auntie Diaries
    Mr. Morale
    Mother I Sober
    Mirror

All of these songs would sound COMPLETELY out of place on DAMN.

You can s*** on Kendrick for a few things, but not having enough topics in his songs? The guy is literally known for his songwriting, storytelling and concepts lol

    Purple Hearts, no

    Die Hard, yes

But still that’s two songs out of 18

The majority of CLB and FATD could be swapped and nobody would bat an eye

"But this logic is flawed because pretty much every artist has a their lane?

Drake has his own lane that he’s been doing since he started. Simp. & hype music. Even HNVM is just melodic house music mixed with his traditional r&b melodies.

Like, you weirdos have some unrealistic expectations specifically for drake that no other artist has.

Cole, Travis, Future, Kendrick etc all have a lane with subject matter and song structure"

You mentioned CLB - FATD lool, I didn't even deny it.

    You’re confusing diversity with cohesiveness

Nobody ever claimed that GNX is a “diverse” sounding album, it’s an extremely cohesive record

Every Drake album is diverse, but what lacks is cohesion, and the lanes he operates within have become extremely formulaic

“Kendrick stuff all sounds the same” idk about that, dude clearly tries to maintain artistic integrity resulting in the occasional disappointment (MM), but lyrically and sonically each album is distinct. Drake seems to intentionally homogenize his releases, it’s all one big playlist soup. Oh I forgot the Drake fans on this site are about as bad as trump supporters in how instead of acknowledging the reality (use your ears), they deflect and throw a hissy fit.

But yeah, after Views (More life to an extent & HNVM is an exception) Drake has had an issue with cohesiveness and vision.

This is why I love NWTS
