What’s crazy to me is that kanye got slapped around for so long before getting a record deal. I was always under the impression that jay z had signed him after he worked on the blueprint. I didn’t realize there was that much back and forth.

Just got done and wow this is even better than I hoped Coodie is amazing for holding on to all of this footage. Ye really accomplished everything he said he would. It’s so f***ing inspiring bro ye truly is the goat

Coodie going back to his childhood crib, looking at old photos of his and essentially realizing his destiny was always to be a photographer for kanye

So many moments in this documentary where kanye was not only prophetic in the many things he’d say, but so much foreshadowing happening all around him. Seriously, this first episode was a masterpiece and this is coming from somebody who loves his music but who also f***ing hates him to the core

One thing you gotta remember is he wasn’t gonna be as used to the camera as Ye so could have been acting different cause he’s on film. I know I would.

Surprised to see people hating on Coodie's parts. The alternative is some distant journalist putting together a bunch of Ye clips. This is his footage as well as Ye's, just look at how many times he's name checked by people in the clips. Makes it so much more personal and authentic.

The bit where Coodie's talking about how seeing Donda and Ye made him realise the influence his parents had on him was one of the most insightful parts.

This is laser focused on Ye but the little added bits from Coodie help make the doc about more than just Ye's story. That's what a good doc should do

I took a whole class on creative nonfiction writing from an author who has his own wiki page. He told me once that any good nonfiction piece that isn’t just a dry report/news/essay/etc needs to be about the author to an extent, at least through their relationship to the subject they’re writing about. It’s what gives it perspective and meaning as opposed to being something with no soul. This doc seems to be following the same principle

Yall itt talking about “Coodie needs to shut up about his life” are ignorant af

God forbid the man that gave us this doc gives us 10 mins of background on how he got to even be in that position of filming Ye
