tried to say this sparingly since the original Netflix acquisition news dropped but this isn't a career doc....its the filmmaker's lens of Kanye's rise and career through their personal encounters and friendship with him. We never saw or spoke of these guys until 2016/2017 so that adds up that their friendship had fallen off. They filmed the first whatever years and prob decided to film again to finish out on what had changed in the time they lost touch

i get there's a rush to get a doc that chronicles his whole career and shows off all the specific studio sessions but we don't really need it yet while Kanye is only 44 and very much active. He has his own vault of footage he may work with one day and this was never that, but it still easily has the most unique lens of his life. These guys believed and saw something in him before many even knew his name

Music docs from the past few years have been amazing and a lot of that is because they key in on eras or even a few weeks/months. Ye will have several more docs down the line anyways

2007-2016 pretty much are the best and most interesting years smh

when i read the article i imagined they were gonna mend it with outside footage. I'm sure they still have something to say/show about the time in between leading up to their reconnection
