Coodies story is equally as interesting as Ye's imo
Bro got to document one of the greatest come ups of all time
first ep was amazing, felt like a perfect summary of his rise to being signed, so much amazing footage and foresight for later in his career/life, donda scenes broke me
second ep was good but felt like an extension of the first ep really, the studio footage was amazing for a hardcore ye fan but I could see someone not really into him finding it boring compared to the first. seeing songs I've heard for decades being made like that was amazing and that pharrell scene was so cool
third ep... man. don't know how I feel, that was a LOT to take in
donda death had me crying bad. my favourite part was probably the KSG trip, even though you could tell he was medicated heavy at the time I feel like he was in an amazing space creatively. JIK part was wholesome af too.
2020 tho... man. s*** was tough to watch. so tough. you can visibly see how much he's struggling. made me question some of the people around him at that time heavy. there were a few bits I don't think needed to be in there (tucker clip) and it feels like a really sad note to end on with the kind of redemption/recovery of the DONDA 2021 era
also like I get that it's not a doc about his entire career and he wasn't there filming during 808s-yeezus but that was arguably his artistic peak and one of the greatest runs in music history, why did they just show a montage of his controversies with supervillain music in the background
final thoughts: I love kanye, he has been through a lot and I hope he is in a better space now than he was during that summer
and he is still and always will be the GOAT
I kinda wish they waited a while longer to release this. Kanye’s career was damn near over in 2020. Everyone who grew up on his work stuck around, but we all knew it was looking pretty bad.
The divorce seems like it sparked a fire in him. He seems healthier and happier than I’ve seen him in a long time, even with all of the IG rants and stuff. Donda felt like a return to form, and since mid 2021 it felt like Kanye has been running the culture again like were used to.
But anyway, I felt like ending it in 2020 was a mistake. It felt like the doc ended with Kanye being a washed up artist with crippling mental health issues. That may have been beginning to be the case at the time, but since then it seems like he’s started to find himself again. I wish they waited an extra year to even get an extra 20 minutes or so of the Donda/Donda 2 redemption arc, as well as touched on the divorce a little bit
one thing I don’t get about the 2019/20 era is why was he so isolated from Kim and his family? like why did he just move to Wyoming without them
I know he said he wanted them there but if you were going through what he seemed to be at that time surely you’d just want to be home with your wife and kids, not on a ranch surrounded by yes men
He just wanted to get the f*** up out of LA

That's why they're gonna announce another season in a few weeks/months

The man with the golden cock
At the end of the day this is the greatest artist of all time and ive been blessed to be around for this crazy ass ride
Coodie was ready to beat ye’s ass for calling him chike
you can tell bro was hurt as hell lmao
The part I liked is when Kanye questioned why Rick Rubin used the word ‘excited’ when he said he was excited to see him
Pharrell is such a gentle soul. Love how he welcomed Kanye with open arms in the studio & said *i can’t wait to hear your new s****
You know he meant that too
bro they really put a top 5 donda track in this
