Sep 17, 2022·2 repliesUndecidedI don't know if its just in Arkansas but HS football numbers are dwindling. We have several 4A and 3A schools playing 8 man football. There was a 3A school that just canceled the rest of the season because they didn't have enough numbers. My former high school, 2A, only had 12 kids that went out this year. Don't know what the issue is. Either the parents don't care, CTE scared everyone off, or the kids don't want to play.
It’s cooked on the lower levels (anecdotal evidence) so it’d make sense HS is diminishing too
My little brother went through the same path as I did in the same school district, and they had struggles filling more than 1 team, sometimes even 1 team, all throughout city league/recreational ball
I feel like offensive linemen gonna be around forever bc ain’t s*** else they can do (except maybe powerlifting idk), but that 5’11-6’2 built player, I could see those continuing to decrease

It used to be like that here 10 years ago. Football was basically a year round thing at one point.
