BigSkinnyNIL is not connected to the school, but it has become connected due to the lack of strict rules regarding the same. Hopefully when this entire thing gets wrangled up, a school will pay a base salary based on their revenue (conference payout, athletic income, conference PE investment maybe), the player would sign an employment contract with the conference and school. NIL would come in to further boost athlete pay. If one leaves the conference, they forego the base pay and the NIL money.
NIL collectives and college coaches should never be able to make promises that would injure the other. Sluka signed for the collective and the collective allegedly didn't pay and now UNLV's season is ruined.
