NIL is not connected to the school, but it has become connected due to the lack of strict rules regarding the same. Hopefully when this entire thing gets wrangled up, a school will pay a base salary based on their revenue (conference payout, athletic income, conference PE investment maybe), the player would sign an employment contract with the conference and school. NIL would come in to further boost athlete pay. If one leaves the conference, they forego the base pay and the NIL money.

NIL collectives and college coaches should never be able to make promises that would injure the other. Sluka signed for the collective and the collective allegedly didn't pay and now UNLV's season is ruined.

Tbh they’ve played prime LSU in that stretch who was top 10 pretty often and had some of the most talented teams of all time.

Ole Miss and A&M had a few top 10 teams there…Georgia in 2015 was one of the very few times they were an underdog at all over that stretch, but it was in Athens

It sucks bc there’s not really an avenue for them to realistically be knocked out of of the playoffs atp. They could lose bigly to the s*** eaters on Saturday and that’d probably drop them to 8-10. They’d be a dog to Tenn, but Tenn will probably be top 4 if they win out to that point. So they still wouldn’t drop out of the top 12 with a loss
