I did not touch this thread until I finally seen the film. Id suggest everyone else do the same

They won't even be able to see this advice if they do that bro
The paradox is that people who’ve seen this need to simultaneously not turn off people who havnt seen it with constant parroting of if being a masterpiece yet also shout from the roof tops that this is a work of miracles because truly this is a once in a lifetime piece of art
My brain cannot comprehend that there must’ve been overlap between this and the rehearsal season 2 lmao

Nah I think must see movie for sure though
The understanding is that we will never understand these sociopaths who live in their own reality and that's just how it is. Think of how insane it is that scattered throughout the first part (pre-jail) they are actually watching chemistry tutorials in 2x speed, getting ready to take another run at the Theranos idea, fully convinced that this time will be different.
Also both Fielder and Seyfried seem to believe that she is definitely the greatest liar ever, but she is also 100% being manipulated or at the very least taken advantage of by Billy while she is in prison and he is using her likeness and her Twitter account for his own personal benefit under the guise of "building love monuments for her." Both are true; again, these people live in their own clearly unexplainable reality. The documentaries you posted are monumental, breathtaking works. There's no question about that. But this serves an entirely different purpose and really is a kind of singular work that is done a disservice when compared to something else, especially other documentaries.
I only compare to other documentaries because for some people this is like the only documentary they have seen this decade in theaters especially

I hope the movie gets people into more documentaries even those that are less entertaining and arent framed like a movie or tv show to the same degree and marketing.
I guess my thing is those that blindly believe someone over the phone or in person selling them Theranos 1 or 2 without the science, research , test rate I dont think are that intelligent in the first place. While at the same time she is directly seeing the consequences of Theranos 1\. Yet is striving for Theranos 2\. In one sense to validate her name in the other to get the money lost and not be in debt. Its why again I am interested in the laser testing guy. Even if yes they likely cant get 1$ cheap testing. Just interested to see why he truly even signed on if he admits Theranos 1 a mistake.
Again I think the movie works best if she is the greatest liar ever even if yes she is also being manipulated . If she is the greatest liar ever then it makes for a better movie and product so again all documentaries have risk of manipulation to some degree. The recreations and framing frames her as the greatest liar ever , as manipulating nathan to love or care about her safety and freedom. Its hinted she is in an abusive relationship to some degree then rather than address that the focus is on did she have billy ask to get paid for the documentary. I think part of what people forget is just like any documentary , movie, narrative, Oppenheim, Nathan, a24 while not being as manipulative or big liars as a con artist. Also have their own goals with narrative and framing
Might go see this by myself tonight or might wait a little bit for the hype to die down some. Not a fan of packed theaters but idk how tapped in the general public is

he was literally getting his pilots license in the middle of filming this

Seeing my theater being sold out completely threw me for surprise
Like I genuinely was shocked when I walked in and seen damn near every seat filled
The moment Nathan starts thinking about renacting with Seyfried the score plays the same chimes from the Willy Wonka song in s1e1 of the Rehearsal
I am saying on the value of telling someone it’s a masterpiece. Not saying don’t enjoy it or view it as one. . I’m saying telling them that before they go see it vs letting them reach that conclusion
But there is in your mind 0 mainpulation by cast and crew to make an entertaining , high selling product documentary?

crowds were booming and laughing. If you want a quiet chill crowd might have to catch a matinee. Otherwise you will see some phones, loud laughter and talking

I got my tickets for a noon screening and theater only looked maybe less than half full but that was a couple hours ago

It’s sad people actively talk or are on their phone in a movie theater
