these kinda s***ty business practices are exactly what led to the 2008 crisis, approving anybody with low credit for mortgages with enticing low interest that was unpayable regardless due to living costs

it’s predatory as f*** because they go after people who are hungry for better living conditions. It’s super f***ed up and guess what the government after the crash?! they gave a stimulus to the banks which was spent on employee bonuses instead of rectifying the housing market and convicting bank owners

So my mother, brother, and I currently live in a house but we are renting. Currently, we have a month-to-month lease and our landlord proceeded to lie and tell us he wasn’t selling his house anytime soon. Then four weeks later he called back and gave us a 30-day notice to move.

As a result of this, we have had a hard time finding another house. And my mother doesn’t want an apartment. So she contacted a mortgage lender last week and they told her that my 780 credit score would most likely have to be used. Now my mother has been stressing me out and essentially harassing me over my credit score. Now neither of us makes a lot of money. I only work part-time so I don’t even know why a lender would approve me for a 300,000 house.

So today the mortgage lender called my mother and sounded very excited regarding my credit. He asked her “so which area are you guys looking to move and how much?” Which made my mother thrilled and very happy. The issue with all of this is - I’m going to UVA next fall and I DO NOT want to buy a house. I won’t even live there! The mortgage lender also told her that after we own the home for a year, we can easily refinance and have the home put entirely on my mother's credit. But that sounds wayyyyy too easy, especially when my mother's credit score is like a 490.

I feel like I’m witnessing the death of my future before my eyes. Now my mother keeps sending me long texts telling me “we don’t have any other options.”

I am panicking on the inside. For years I worked hard to maintain my credit and now I’m being pressured by my mother and a mortgage lender. Life was going so well for me but this s*** has been keeping me up at night. Causing me to lose sleep. My mother is terrible with finances so I know this situation is going to turn very bad for me. It sucks, even more, I don’t have anyone to vent to…. My mother’s friends and family members are encouraging her for this. I feel like I'm the only one who even cares about my credit or my future.

OP himself say she doesn't want an apartment just cause she wants a house. Even if she didn't qualify. It's far less taxing to used his credit for an apartment compared to a 300k house

Mans ain't even in college yet. And he gotta spend 300k he don't have. My mom could eat a f***ing bag of d***s if she think she getting 300k when we could move into a cheaper house or a f***ing apartment

300k is beyond cheap, regular houses where im at is like 1.5 million for a shack. y'all tripping af plus she's gonna pay for it just using his credit. mortgage payments won't even be 1k, thats so light.
