What’s funny is if someone made this same exact thread but spoke on Drake, that thread would’ve been locked with the swiftness lmao.

They p****
KingOfPop must be really fun at parties
You’d know if you ever got invited to one.
How the f*** is Mirror a weak song production wise?
Compared to the rest of the album? Stuff like United in Grief, Mother I Sober, We Cry Together? It’s not bad at all on its own but in context, imo it’s one of the less impressive by a good amount

Also what’s funny is if mods see this will lock this thread and think that fixes it
But I’d rather both be allowed
I’d say there’s some continuity
Some double albums have different sounds across discs
On the flip side MM and TBS aren’t even distinct enough or long enough to be billed as a double. From a rap head perspective I was expecting a little more from a Kendrick 2LP to compete with AEOM and stuff.
What if I word it like this
Who had the better two discs of music in 2022?
Kendrick with MM and TBS
Or drake with HN and HL
I’d say there’s some continuity
How though? I would only argue lyrically they keep the same romance-centric theme textually but the actual sounds are sonically different.
HN is House and Dance music.
Her Loss is a Trap Album with R&B elements.
They sound nothing alike.

Yeah but these albums were never intended to be a double album. They are apart of a a Trilogy set so even considering this a double album excludes the other Album that fits the lyrical theme of the three.

MMTBS is 80 minutes long. Back in the day double albums spawned because you couldn't fit the music on one disc or tape. Also most albums nowadays are only 30-40 minutes long.
Mr Morale has a different tone than TBS and it literally changes as the tracklist unfolds. "The first part (The Big Steppers) serves as a purging of emotions from these themes (of childhood and generational trauma, fatherhood, masculinity, religion, gender identity, infidelity, therapy, cancel culture, the pressures of fame). He sets up the surface issues and then dives deeper into them on the second part (Mr. Morale). In the second half, Lamar takes greater contemplative measures, and meditative action, and weighs the themes against his morality and conscience."
Dont bring up the album man s*** just makes me mad yet again. I waited so long for this s*** and he came with a fcking dud

I feel you but I think you just took me too literal, you didn’t comment on the part of me rephrasing it in a different way
But anyway I personally feel like the “different tones” of the 2 discs of morale is a bit overblown. I know that’s what the message is supposed to be but I don’t see how Silent Hill fits in the supposed tone of disc 2
I’m aware of what double albums mean historically but this s*** isn’t even longer than the early double albums like White Album so idk

Oh sorry I wouldnt phrase it like that but I understand what your trying to say.
I think I’d go with Her Loss and HN because I like Her Loss more and its waay more music. But if it was Her Loss and CLB we’d have a real discussion 👀

See this the type of thoughts I was hoping to spark with that question
yeah like you said, it being more music is definitely a factor. Both had a very good year imo
Quelle Chris did WWS first iirc
That beat is par for the course in the underground today
where is quelle’s WWS? because i had a huge phase with him once upon a time and i haven’t heard anything like WWS in his discography
regardless, no one cares about that nigga’s music, so not too sure why you brought him up
What’s funny is if someone made this same exact thread but spoke on Drake, that thread would’ve been locked with the swiftness lmao.
it wouldn’t even had made it past two posts if it was flipped around, mod bias is fr wild
but don’t forget, drake stans are apparently oppressed and victimized all over this site

that little break is pretty standard, i was talking about the main portion of the beat
regardless cool song
funnily enough that was the one project i completely skipped

Yeah tbh I forgot that it wasn’t the main part that was done before so I feel you
Why what dont you like about the album?
He put a f***ing script for a short movie on the album as a song and its basically Chrisean rock and Bleuface arguing. To me the album is moreso a personal project that takes a deep look into the person kendrick Lamar is and his deeproothed issues and views on the world, relationships, family etc. The music wich is the reason we all tune in wasnt up to par with what he is known for.
From the beats, to the flows, the cadence of his voice it was a subpar performance from a generational talent. If anybody can make a story this personal sound pleasant while still experimenting it should be Kendrick because he did it before. He just failed to deliver and everything following the release shows it.

Well I guess that's your opinion. Most people and critics disagree but okay.
To me, We Cry Together was relatable as someone who has been in a relationship where money was tight and tensions are high. Father Time is one of the most introspective and beautiful K Dot songs OAT. Auntie Diaries was so polarizing yet poignant about understanding a Trans person even though Black Male Culture is often centered around masculinity and is coupled with the Black Family Structure worshiping Baptist Christ and God.
