Clearly enough of us like MM&TBS to argue about it for 32 pages so ultimately OP is wrong about it being a bad album. If it was truly forgettable, we would have forgotten it.
some of these pages aint really bout music breh

Tf kind of name is shane
More like a god damn shame
I also would be interested in op explaining more, dated isn’t the word I would use
Most of the beats are great but there a few that don’t hit/feel kind of cheap for a Kendrick album
Those drums on Purple Hearts are not it at all. Father Time vocal samples are cool but the beat itself is kind of bland/could’ve been on a mixtape in 2011 vibes. Pharrell kind of s*** the bed on the title track. But outside those 3 the production is great
Hooks, idk
Imo the only even remotely weak songs from a production standpoint on there are Purple Hearts and Mirror but even those work within the album context
Which is the better “double album”
Mr Morale and The Big Steppers
or
Honestly, Nevermind… Her Loss

Just because the albums are a trilogy doesnt mean you can just MAKE them double albums.
Mr Morale and TBS is a double album and was released with the intentions of a double album.
As catchy as it is i much rather prefer Honestly nevermind. Her loss gonna be forgotten like clb in a couple years but HN is indeed a clasic
Worst take
Crazy thing is the domestic abuse song got the hardest beat and that's what he did w it

Do you know how “quotation marks” are used

Yep but OP wasn’t looking for constructive conversation they were looking for a hit thread and got one.

How the f*** is Mirror a weak song production wise?
It’s getting late in the year, is there still a chance Cole swoops in and wins the year with a December drop?
Crazy how all the 3 albums drake dropped this decade better then mid Snorale
NBA GOATboy also dropped 5 albums this year better than midrick's
Do you know how “quotation marks” are used
Yeah but the example is terrible because one is literally a Double Album and the other is a Collab Album and Techno Album with TWO COMPLETELY DIFFERENT TONES.
Its not like the Her Loss and Honeslty Nevermind have any continuity at all.

Can’t forget gunna, Lil baby and future also dropped better albums this year then Midricks king

Yeah it really bugged me that we got any “autopilot Kenny” vibes on there after such a long wait. I expected him to be able to balance his strengths and message with a sound like that better if he was gonna go for it. He had time to perfect his version of that style
There’s some lyrics I like on Die Hard and Purple Hearts but I similarly kind of almost felt like we were getting soundtrack Kenny/feature Kenny type vibes on the verses
I agree on the sentiment, that he shouldn’t have had anything that was auto pilot on his first in 5 years, but the only tracks I found myself thinking “he could’ve went harder” was on Silent Hill and Purple Hearts, which both have big features
Something I’ve noticed about Kendrick is that whenever someone features on a song rapping or doing a verse, he will usually go out of his way to prop them up. He did for Jay Rock on Money Trees, Rapsody on Complextion, Rihanna on LOYALTY etc.
He will lessen himself in the process to do so.
Only reason that makes sense when he does what he does on Silent Hill and then goes f***ing nuts on Savior.

I’d say there’s some continuity
Some double albums have different sounds across discs
On the flip side MM and TBS aren’t even distinct enough or long enough to be billed as a double. From a rap head perspective I was expecting a little more from a Kendrick 2LP to compete with AEOM and stuff.
What if I word it like this
Who had the better two discs of music in 2022?
Kendrick with MM and TBS
Or drake with HN and HL
Mfs really got the musical palette of a pop tart
Most of those posts are pure bait. I refuse to believe anyone could be that bland
Count me out is one of the songs I'll never get the hype on. It's meh
my brother in christ
I can only hope that in a couple of years y’all will have grown up a bit and realized you went a little overboard on the MMBS/Kendrick hate
Explain what makes the production sound dated
