I love Kendrick but this album was a mess
It's my 3rd fave Kendrick album(4th if we include S80).
I feel the album is underrated because it has the least bangers or smash hits of any Kendrick album but it's a very strong concept album and deeply personal like you said.
It basically reminds me of 4:44 in many ways in terms of the self reflection and vulnerability but Kendrick took it a step further with the theming.
People can clown this album if they want but I'm still glad that Kendrick and Tyler push the envelope in mainstream rap more than just giving the usual bloated rap album with similar themes that serves more as a playlist filled with bangers than anything else.
It has less bangers than TPAB?
I’ve seen people compare it to 444 before but it seems to get ignored that 444 was influenced by TPAB
Morale is another album in that mold, I feel like it’s TPAB 2.0 or an update/second attempt by Kendrick but it’s just not better imo, which makes it kind of disappointing in a way, its a high bar
It’s my personal favorite Kendrick album honestly for how well it touches on mental health. Not sure why people hate it and I have yet to hear a good reason why it’s so hated on here

Absolutely.
King Kunta and I were bangers and got more spins outside than most songs on MMTBS.
Tyler said it when it came out, a lot of people on here don't really want their artists to grow up contrary to what they might say. that's why the s*** on here dont really phase me @hayabusa we had to go through a whole year of people saying TPAB had no bangers before people started hailing it as a landmark.
This s*** is nothin new lol
This isn’t fully accurate
TPAB always had its detractors but it was also hailed as a landmark from the jump, it was being taught in colleges like as soon as it released lol
I don’t think Morale has as much love for it because the music/album just wasn’t executed as well imo. I love the message but this weird double album thing with all the competing sounds and stream friendly collabs wasn’t the way to convey it imo

Yeah it did not need to be a double album. And adding the heart 5 as a “3rd disc” bonus after the fact was weird too
Absolutely.

Well yeah they got more spins but there’s more attempts at bangers on Morale. They just didn’t work lol
it’s good but it’s not really memorable imo
but kendrick just has insane expectations given his catalog
United in grief, worldwide steppers, Father Time, rich spirit, count me out, savior, mother I sober and mirror on the same album goodness

Doing a double album with 9 songs each is still so weird to me lol. when he teased a double I thought it was going to be a lot grander, especially after the wait. Like, either go all the way or just do a single album.
a year out of this album we gotta admit that auntie diaries, even giving him the most charitable interpretation/all the benefit of the doubt was just bad and it didn’t need to happen
MMTBS is not even a top 3 Kendrick project and it still is better than 99% of the albums that have dropped in the past couple of years. He is just levels above all these other artists.
I don’t want my music especially hip hop to sound like a broadway play I want it to knock like the genre was intended from the beginning

Bro just went over my favorite albums of the year and your album landed in my top 25 of the year. Salute 😂. Just thought you would like to know.
