Anyone clowning the album because of the sales or success

    1. N95 peaked at #3
    2. A double disc therapy session sold 300k
    3. One of the biggest tours in rap history

Sounds like a success to me

Still one of the highest selling albums that year… most niggas wasn’t doing those numbers back then and they ain’t doing it today

I like the song but my first thought when album dropped was “it’s 2022 why is he making a song named after a face mask” lol

I felt the same lol. I stamp that the album would've been received a lot better if he dropped it a year earlier in 2021. it would've been the perfect covid indoor self reflection album.

Nah nothing generational about this I’m ngl this was trash for Kendrick standards, no amount of time or hindsight 2020 will force me to like it, whole time he sounded like he wanted to spit some real s*** but never really brought it home sounds like he ran out of material, contrive cultural discourse it’s like he wanna hit the same highs as tpab but miserably failed at it, not impressed then not now can’t beleive he made so many wait for this s***. My expectations are very low for next album. He’s already got a few classics to his belt I don’t expect him to top them anytime soon he doesn’t need to worry about topping them he’s already cemented as one of the goats else it’s gonna be another s*** fest mmbs

  • Aug 16, 2024

This album isnt made for the demographic of this site and most ppl on the internet alot ngl

Its one of his most meaningful albums objectively and prob his most timeless record

half the album just sounds like him trying to play to hip hop trends while preaching old man bs to us and the other half is him just re doing songs that if Macklemore or Immortal Technique did, they'd be called corny but because its Kendrick, its the deepest and most important s*** ever.

When Macklemore says on Same Love that he used to be homophobic and realized how hurtful he was being, he was called corny. But when Kendrick said he loved saying the f slur all the time and now realizes its bad, hes called a genius.

Mr Morale is not entirely a bad album but it stands as a Rorschach test of just how shallow, hypocritical and obsessed his fans really are to call anything he does genius especially because typically perceived as corny rappers have been saying this s*** for years, if not decades. But the moment Kendrick steps in to do the exact same s***, then its important.

Who gaf about macklemore first of all

Second of all, who gives af about macklemore gtfoh boy , you not this. Your critique skates around him and his fan base, what about the music, the lofty concept, the message and what it means for his legacy/ discog. Worldwide Steppers, Die Hard, UIG, father time, crown, what you know about black trauma

he isnt preachy at all on this album and he got critiqued the most for auntie diaries (albeit from reactionary people that focused on him using the f word than the message but i digress) lol

you could say some of the topics probably arent executed the best but to say the whole thing is shallow is silly

Worldwide Steppers is one of the weirdest tracks on a mainstream hip hop album, in a good way

what is it with this agenda of working overtime to understimate conscious music but giving street rappers the green light to keep on being mediocre bc that's totally cool, not tired not corny?

specially bc this album is actually thought provoking and the production is interesting bruh

  • Aug 16, 2024

This album will always be Kendrick's first miss to me and I have no desire to sit through like half of the songs on here, which is insane for a Kendrick album. I'm not going to say it's "better" but I definitely prefer OD over Mr Morale

that’s usually what most critiques boil down to on this site, something about critics and his fanbase

maybe on a lucky day someone will actually try to talk about his music but it’s usually some s*** about TPAB being “BLM raps” or some other dismissive bs

Returned from a 5 year mysterious hiatus to drop a boring stinker that completely flopped commercially

Makes sense he went the “diss Drake” for his next album promo cycle, especially after those singles with Keem & Beyoncé flopped too last year
